Huskers swept aD three places
in seven events.
They began by getting first,
second and third in the shot
put with Dennis Hagin taking
the high honors. Then Clifton
Forbes took first in the 60
yard dash with two Huskers
following him across the fin
ish. Lonnie Sherlock had a
double win in the high and
low hurdles. Other NU men
finished second and third be
hind him in both events. John
Mottley lead the sweep in the
440-yard dash.
The other sweeps came in
the 1.000 and 880-yard runs as
Dan Morran and Les Hell
bush respectively leading the
finish.
Seven meet records were
broken and another tied in
the win.
Boyd Epley set both a

Less than half a point sep
arated coach Jake Geier's Ne
braska gymnasts from the
Kansas squad as they fell
178.40-177.95.
The Husker's score was
again a season high as in the
past three meets, but a mi
nute .45 points was their
downfall
Coach Geier sited the break
ing of several routines by his
boys as things you can't do in
a close meet.
"The intensity of the meet
was tremendous. Maybe we
wanted to win it too badly,"
Geier said.
In both freshman and var

teams set 14 meet records and
won 13 of 16 events in the
Lawrence meet
In freshman scoring a wide

along with a new meet rec

leg, followed by Ron Lee and
Hugh McGovern. Clifton
Forbes ran his anchor leg in

3:19.9 run.
Steve Krebs set a meet
record with his high jump of

heave of the shot; Mel Cam
bell with a 9:28 6 two-mile;
and Morran on a 2:14.5 880

Lone Cyclone
The only ISU win came in
the mile ' run when Mike

their backs to the wall and
the ghosts of seasons past
looming above them, take on
the league-leading Kansas Jay
hawks tomorrow night in the
Coliseum with a last chance
at conference title hopes the
prize.
The ghost combined with s
tenacious Colorado basketball
team Saturday to shock Joe
Cipriano's second-place Hus
kers, 75-73 in the Colorado
fieldhouse.
A Big Eight television au
dience saw the Buffaloes play
like anything but a last-place
team as they jumped out' to
an early lead and carried the
game to the frustrated Ne
braskans down to the wire.
Sox VValseth's luckless
Buffs, carrying a 1-9 league
record into the contest at
Boulder, almost completely
ignored the usually reliable
NU press and used several
fatal Nebraska mistakes in
the closing minutes to finally
win a heartstopper.
Poetic Justice
In a way, the upset was only
poetic justice for the Buffs,
as they have had to watch too
many close ones tip the oilier
way on their tumble to the
depths of the Big Eight stand
ings. After having had to play
catch-up and then running out
to as much as a five-point
lead, it looked like the Huskers
could shake Colorado with a
67-64 lead with four and a
half minutes left to play on
two Ron Simmons swishers.
Then the roof caved in as
NU went to a delay pattern.
Gordon Tope and Mike Re
bich both broke the stall at
tempt with steals, Rebich get
ting an easy layup and Tope
hitting two free throws on a
retaliation foul.
Tom Baack then had to keep
the Huskers in contention as
Wrestlers
lose twice
The Husker wrestlers had
a very bad weekend's tour of
Iowa as they came up with a
total of three points to the 63
points of their two opponents.
