The Smith resolution states that after Dec. 9 AWS representatives rather than dormitory student as sistants will be responsible for enforcing AWS rules in Smith Hall. Ridenour said a resolu- dreaming about your future? then stop! Here's a once in a lifetime opportunity for adventure and challenge. Miss Helen Snyder, as sistant dean of student af fairs, said Tuesday that the the resolution would not have the University's sacn tion, although she was un certain as to what action would be taken. WORKABLE? Mrs. May Pierce, resi dence director at Selleck Quadrangle, said, "I'm not sure the resolution repre sents a workable program, although I feel that it's basic ideas are good." AWS representatives are sometimes freshmen, she said, and their inexperience might pose a problem. Mrs. Pierce thought the program defined by the resolution would require more organi zation and more training of AWS representatives. "Ssnie of our AWS rep resentatives do bed checks and take care of sign-in sheets if the student assis tant is out on a key," she noted, they also help the stu dent assistant in maintain ing quiet hours. Residence directors from Pound and Sandoz Halls re fused to give their opinions on the Smith Resolution. Catherine Callen, a stu dent assistant in Selleck commented on the resolu tion by saying, "I think it is probably right. We should play a part in keep ing order," she said, "but I think the AWS represent atives shoudl be the en forcers of AWS rules." STANDARD'S BOARD Another Selleck student assistant, Linda Frye said, "I don't know about the importance of this resolu tion because so many of our dorm rules come from the dorm's Standard's Board. The student assistant just about has to enforce these. "If all of the dormitories adopt this policy the job of student assistant will have to be redefined." Miss Frye said that en forcing dorm rules "really does take a major portion of my time." This amount of time varies, she said, de-nding on how import ant a student assistant thinks quiet hours are. "Being a counselor has become a minor role as compared to enforcing rules," she concludei mwk a p an m mm m HUM I A 25 fl AT THE LOWEST PRICES 16th & P Sts.
