EYE APPEAL . . . aids taste appeal in Selleck's remedied food service.
Wegner: Eye Appeal
Aids Taste Appeal
Eye appeal aids taste ap
peal, according to Ellen
Wegner, production man
ager o f the newly re
modeled Selleck Quad
rangle dining hall.
Miss Wegner said that the
atmosphere created by the
remodeling job helps to
make the cafeleria more
intimate and less like an
institution.
"We're striving to get
away from an army bar
racks type atmosphere,"
she explained.
CARPETING
Mrs. Cecilia Bona, Sel
leck's director of food ser
vice, said that Selleck's din
ing hall is now the only one
on campus with carpeting.
"We also have carpeting on
the supporting poles," she
explained, which helps the
poles blend in with the de
cor. Mrs. Bona said that oth
er improvements include
new furniture, drapes, and
freshly painted walls.
We have replaced the long
tables with smaller tables
which seat four, six, or
eight people, she said.
A new condiments sta
tion has also been added.
Mrs. Bona explained that
a condiments station is a
table outside of the serving
line for beverages, ketchup,
mustard, and salad dress
ings. NEW CONVEYOR
The director of food ser
vice said that a conveyor
belt to take trays to the
dish room is being installed.
We have a temporary con
veyor now, she said.
Mrs. Bona said that the
Selleck residence halls were
built in 1954, which makes

their food service the old
est on campus.
"The cafeteria needed to
be brought up to date,"
she said.
We serve about 830 stu
dents a day, she said, which
includes the athletes. Mrs.
Bona explained that the
athletes have a separate
serving line, which has also
been remodeled.
"The athletes receive the
same food as the other stu
dents," said Miss Wegner,
"but they get more quant
ity and more meat."
SAME FOOD
She said that renovations
will be made in a few of
the pieces of equipment in
the kitchen and serving line
next month.
"We also have new dish
es, which are in a pattern
called Amber Gold," Miss
Wegner said. "The new
dishes and the new look of
the cafeteria help the at
mosphere, she continued,
"which is physychologically
beneficial."

Commenting on the qual
ity of the food, Miss Wegner
felt that an improvement
had been made this year.
"One thing that many
young people don't under
stand is that cooking for
600 is different than cook
ing for 6," she stated.
"The remodeled cafeteria
makes for a nicer place to
live," commented Brad
Kaufman, a Selleck resi
dent. "It's a considerable im
provement," added Dave

She said this will be the
