Coach Tony Sharpe has an
nounced the starting line-ups
for the Nebraska baseball
team which opens its 1966
season March 28 in Houston,
Tex.
The Huskers play both Hus
ton University and Houston
Baptist. Sharpe has split his
squad for the dual games
Nebraska plays Houston Unl
versify a total of four games
and Houston Baptist three
Nebraska plays Houston Uni
versity only on luesaay,
March 29.
Starting pitcher for the
Houston University game will
be Garv Neibauer, junior
from Scottsbluff. Neibauers
1965 record was 1-3, and he
had an earned run average
of 3.06. Mickey Zangari, Lin
coln junior, will handle the
relief duties.
Starting against Houston
Baptist will be Bob Stickels,
Hastings junior; Charles
Green, Omaha sophomore will
take relief chores.
Nebraska has been able to
hold intra-squad games this
year for the first time prior
to the season openers with
the spring weather. "We've
been able to get a lot done
this season with the fine
weather we had last week,"
said Sharpe. "The boys have
been able to work on their
timing in hitting last week."
Sharpe sated that there
have been no pre-season prob
lems to speak of this year.
"The only thing that wor
ries me the condition of Bob
Brand, our first baseman,"
said Sharpe. Brand suffered
a small fracture in his indox
finger in practice last week
and has not been up to ca
pacity in workouts. "Brand
was able to work out with us
on Monday and his condition
is better. We're counting on
him in that first base slot,
and we should know by Mon
day (28th) his condition,"
said Sharpe.
Twenty-three players will
travel to Texas for the week
long trip which includes a
double-header with Wichita
State on April 2. Larry Born
shclegl, one of Nebraska's top
hitters last season and now
graduate assistant for Sharpe,
is travelling with the team
and will handle the coaching
duties at Houston Baptist.
In announcing the line-ups
for the two games on Mon
day Sharpe explained that the
line-ups are for Monday's
games only, and there will
be considerable shifting of
players from team to team
during the trip.
Nebraska leaves Saturday
by chartered bus and will
workout in Stillwater, Okla.,
that afternoon. The Huskers
arrive in Houston on Sunday
and will workout there Sun
day afternoon.

KU's Hanson
Lost For Year
Coach Bob Timmons has
announced that Bob Hanson,
a senior sprinter, has been
lost to the Kansas varsity
track team for the outdoor
season. Hanson will undergo
an operation, on his right foot
during the Easter spring va

sprinters and low hurdlers in
the Big Eight Conference.
"This is a tough blow to
us," Timmons said, but add
ed, "Even worse, it's a hard
break for Bob." The operation
probably will end Hanson's
track career.

Buffs Lose
Players
Buoyed by beautiful early
March weather, but beset by
personnel losses, Colorado's
baseball squad has a g o o d
jump on getting ready for the
1966 campaign.
Coach Frank Prentup's team
is tentatively scheduled , to
open the season in Boulder
March 29 against Regis before
embarking on a spring vaca
tion trip to Texas and Okla
homa.
Graduation wiped out the
1965 team's only .300 hitter and
top pitcher, Adrian Mohr. But
that was only the beginning
of Prentup's personnel prob
lems. Five more regulars, all
expected back, have fallen by
the wayside since last June
Catcher Don Sessions (signed
with Phillies), Pitcher Jim
Orr (lost last year of eligibil
tty because of 10-semester
rule), Thirdbaseman Dave
Blomgren (dropped out of
schol last fall), . and Shortstop
George Lewark and Rightfield
er Gary Bloom (became in
eligible, scholastically, at the
beginning of spring semester)
Two newcomers, big (6-4)
sophomore lefthander Taylor
Toomey and righthander Tim
Scheibeler, in from Mesa Col
lege as a transfer, will have
to come through if the Buffs
are to be solid on the mound.

Drink Sprite and be

Take heart. Take a dime.
Then take a bottle of Sprite
rrom the nearest pop
machine.
Suddenly it's in
your hand. Cold.
Biting. Tart and
tingling. You
cackle fiendishly
and rub your hands
together. (You
should; they're
probably chilled to
the bone by now. )
You tear off to a
corner, alone, but
within earshot of
your fellows.
And then? And then? And then you unleash it.
SPRITE! It fizzes! It roars! It bubbles with
good cheer!
Heads turn. Whisperings. "Who's that strangely
fascinating student with the arch smile. And what's
in that curious green bottle that's making such
a racket?"
And you've arrived! The distinctive 'taste and '
ebullient, character of Sprite has set you apart.
You're somebody. uh...uh, whoever-you-are.
SPRITE. SO TART AND
TINGLING. WE JUST COULDW'T
KEEP IT QUIET. '
