soph Tom Baack, a 6-5 for
ward, has crashed the top
quintet.
- "We may start Lantz yet,"
Joe said. "He's done a great
job and deserves to be con
sidered a starter whether he
does or not. One thing is cer
tain Lantz will do a lot of
playing, regardless of w h o
starts. We will use him at ei
ther guard or forward."
Freshman Coach Glenn Pot
ter noted that the annual
game provides the frosh with
good experience. "The fresh
men are always able to pretty
much hold their own about the
first quarter," he said, "but
after that, the difference in
game experience begins to
tell."
Potter said that this year's
team compares favorably
against last year's freshman
team, they are taller, stronger
in rebounding and on defense.
"However," he said, "we
probably will not have as
good of shooters this year."
Potter listed Roger Leitner
as the frosh leader on offense
and Dan Shaver on defense.
He included Bob Wagner and
Shaver as possibilities for fu
ture floor leaders for the
Huskers.

To Meet Misfits Today

win qualifies the DU's for a
chance at the all-university
football championship against
the Misfits, an independent
team, today.
Jack Gugenmos accounted
for three of four touchdowns
for the DU's and, accord
ing to Intramural Director
Joel Meier, "played an out
standing game. He is an
fine athlete."
With about 150 spectators on
hand, the DU's piloted a dev
astating aerial game, all of
their scoring coming on
passes. In the first quarter,
Gugenmos gathered in a pass
and scampered 15 yards for
the DU's first touchdown.
Rich Rockwell tallied for the
Betas, Delts Lead Swimmers
With intramural swimming
under way, Beta Theta Pi and
Delta Tau Delta are dominat
ing the top places in total in
dividual competition so far.
To eliminate unfair competi
tion, the intramural depart
ment has put freshman and
varsity swimmers in a sepa
rate class this year.
In division I. (freshman
varsity), Bill Kathrlen took
first place In 50 yard free
style. Bill Kenagy and Walt
Brzezinski took second and

In division II, 50 yard free
style, Bill Pugsley set the
pace in 26.6 seconds for first
place. Stan Wolcoot came in
second, followed by Jim
Shreck.

with a time of 2:19.6. Steve
Burdic finished second, with
Jim Fenlon close behind for
the number three spot.

scoring column in the second
quarter when Dick Wasinger

on a pass from Dale Sail.
Coming back strong in a good
team effort, the DU's put to
gether a four-man pass play,
with Gugenmos on the scoring
end once again.
In third quarter action, Sel
lect held the DU's scoreless.
Dick Wasinger intercepted a
DU pass on the DU's own one
yard line and charged the
length of the field for Fair
field-Benton s second and il
nal touchdown.
The DU's came back to
dominate the game In the
fourth quarter, scoring one
more touchdown. Gugenmos
pulled in another pass and
ground out almost 40 yards
to the end zone, putting the
DU's on top, 25-13.
The DU's will meet the Mis
fits today at 4:30 for the all-
university intramural football
championship. The match will
be on the IM field behind Uni
versity High School.

Huskers To Train In Arizona,
Season Finale Thanksgiving
Nebraska football players will be able to spend Christ
mas at home. The gridders are slated to go to Phoenix, Ari
zona Dec. 14 to train for the Orange Bowl game, New Year's
Eve.
In making the announcement Coach Bob Devaney noted
that the team will have two-a-day drills the 15-20 with one
drill planned for the 21 before they return to Lincoln.
The team will regroup the morning after Christmas to
fly to Miami for the Orange Bowl classic. Coach Devaney
is also planning a trip this weekend to Miami to find a prac
tice site there, one preferably with lights since the game
is going to be played at night.
Nebraska will face Oklahoma in their last conference
game and close the season before a sellout crowd of 54,000
and a national television audience on Thanksgiving day.
Oklahoma has been without the services of their top star,
Carl McAdams, and All-America linebacker. McAdams miss
ed the Missouri game, which Oklahoma lost 30-0, and is cur
rently sporting a cast on his bad ankle.
"Playing without Carl McAdams is like a hockey team
playing without a goalie," says Sooner Coach Gomer Jones.
Reports from the Sooner camp indicate, however, that Mc
Adams will be ready for the Nebraska game.
