University students major ing in textiles, clothing and design are getting a big sur prise this semester. ; They're receiving firsthand information about Paris fashion from a new instruc tor who has studied in Paris and designed f o r private showings in the San Francis co area. And this knowledge is being imparted by a man the first to serve as an in structor in this department of the School of Home Econom ics. The newcomer is R o b e r t Hillestad. Hillcstad hopes to contribute all he can to the Department of Textiles, Cloth ing and Design and his back ground promises he'll be doing just that. Olds has 0 Motor, CoiporottM Students Of Paris A graduate from the Uni versity of Wisconsin, Hillestad commented that he first be came interested in f a s h i o n when he received a degree in art and saw specialized areas in the fashion industry. He al so has attended the Art Insti tute at Chicago and received executive training in depart ment store management at Northwestern University. When asked why he decided to teach, Hillcstad replied. "A lot can be done in the area of fashion and design we must prepare students so they know what to expect." He hopes to encourage more textile, cloth ing and design majors and tell them what the area has to offer, and he added, "the fashion industry needs them." Hillestad is teaching an in troductory class in design and draping. His flair for goodj design is reflected by creative j displays in his classroom.
