Nebraska's Black Shirts are
fast becoming more famous
than Paul Dietzcl's Louisiana
State Chinese Bandits of a few
years ago.
By holding Colorado to only
51 total yards (minus three in
rushing) in last week's 21-3
victory, the Black Shirts
dropped their average in to
tal defense to 133 yards. Mis
souri, the Huskers next foe is
second in this department,
with 211.7.
There has been somewhat of
a "return to normalcy" after
the "new deal" starting in the
Big Eight Conference, team
statistics released show.
Eve r-strong Oklahoma is
now challenging Nebraska in
total offense. Rushing-minded
Kansas is pulling up on the
leading Cornhuskers. And
Missouri, noted the past few
years for its strong defense,
has taken No. 2 spots in rush
ing defense and total defense
in an effort to make a run at
the leading Nebraskans.
However, Nebraska still
holds comfortable leads in five
of the six divisions rushing
offense, passing offense, total
offense, rughing defense, and

Oklahoma State is still stub

It might be easier to analyze Nebraska's current foot
ball campaign as a political campaign. This way sports
columnists (or political columnists) could give that cam
paign more depth of understanding. Accounts of the Ne
braska political machine instead of the football team could
be laden with those terms we all know . . . terms just
bulging with meaning.
In this light, the Husker Party has stormed through
six main primaries undefeated and the polls say the power
ful Devaney organization should sweep to victory on elec
tion day, November 21. The incumbents have a strong multi
party system to deal with. The Tiger party of Missouri will
face the Huskers in their next test.
It seems the Husker Party has usurped the entire mid
dle of the gridiron spectrum. They run their unbalanced
line from both the right and the left so no extremist
tendencies develop. No one Individual has been able to
gain control of the Husker Party as the members ac
complish their aims through compromise. A very ambi
tious democratic group, the Husker Party always gets
all of its voters (scorers) to the polls (games.) Con
sequently, the Husker machie has rung up large vote
(Scoring) plurality in every primary test to date.
TJie ranks of the Tiger Party, this Saturday's opponent,
have been captured by a football radical named Gary Lane.
Lane openly practices in all sorts of extreme activities like,
running, passing, and punting. He almost lost his power
position in the Tiger Party early in the campaign due to
some bad showings in primaries. Alarming as it may seem,
this successful radical can attract many votes, (points)
It has been a vicious
flowing from extreme propagandists. None of the eight
parties have been immune from the literature that has
been traced to organized hate
directors) at various campus headquarters.
Some opponents have suggested that the Huskers are
believers in big government (platooning) and add the
they have grass roots support and the individuals to de
feat the reigning party. The Husker Party, though, seems
to attract minority groups because they know they will
be able to vote (score) and have voice in party strategy
(plays)
One thing, the Huskers haven't been accused of dis
honesty or security risks. Party members like Kent Me
Cloughan and Frank Solich have spotless public (statistical)
records while the team as a

Elsewhere in the multi-party system, the primaries
look like this according to the often-wrong pollster: Army
by 6 over Iowa State; Kansas 20 over Kansas State;
Minnesota by 1 over Indiana; Oklahoma by 27 over Colo

LSU 1 over Mississippi; Air Force by 7 over Arizona;
California by 16 over U.C.L.A.; Oregon 14 over Stanford;
Arkansas 20 over Texas A & M; Florida S over Auburn;
Georgia Tech 7 over Duke, Georgia by 1 over North

Ohio State 10 over Iowa; Maryland 6 over Penn State:
Michigan 13 over Northwestern; Michigan State 15 over
Wisconsin; Notre Dame by 7
Illinois; Syracuse 20 over Pitt;
Southern Cal by 14 over Washington; TCU by 3 over Bay
