Selected To Sing
In Choral Union
Eighty-four University up
perclassmen and women have
been chosen members of the
University Singers for 1964-65.
Earl Jenkins, professor of
music and director of the
choral group, said the Singers
will appear this school year
in at least two of their own
performances, at Christmas
and in the spring, and will
join with the 600-voice Choral
Union for the annual Messiah
concert and Spring Oratorio.
Accompanying the Singers
this year on the piano will be

The feminine touch is added
to Reserve Officer Training
Corps units by two auxiliaries,
Angel Flight and Cadence
Countesses.
Angel Flight is the official
auxiliary of the Air Force
ROTC. It was founded two
years ago at the University
to promote an interest in the
Air Force and in the ad
vanced program for career
officers.
Angle Flight members
serve as hostesses for the
AFROTC, and are now official
hostesses at Municipal Air
port.
Each spring they sponsor
a Blue Yonder workship for
anyone interested in learning
about the Air Force way ot
life. Speakers from the base,
and movies of overseas tours
of duties are part of the pro
gram.
Several members attend na
tional conclaves, and one or
two area conclaves are held
each year in Lincoln.
Other activities include
lours of bases, of the head
quarters of the Strategic Air
Command at Omaha, and of
a missile site at Eagle.
A tea is given each spring
for graduating Air Force ca
dets.
Angel Flight is interested
primarily in promoting serv
ice opportunities for the men
in ROTC, and educating the
women who may be con
nected with the Air Force,
and the public in general
about the Air Force, said
Suzie Trammell, publicity di
rector.
Selection of new members
is made by an interviewing
board of Angel Flight and
Arnold Air Society members.

Cadence Countesses, the
honorary adjunct to the Persh
ing Rifles, was founded here
at the University five years
ago.
The national champion drill
team is making plans now to
attend the Cherry Blossom
Festival in Washington D.C.
April 15.
Several money-making
projects are underway, but
the members are hoping to
find an inexpensive way to
travel to Washington.
"We're determined to get
there," Patty Johns, presi
dent, said. "We feel it's a good
way to give recognition to Ne
braska." The Cadence Countesses
won national honors at Mad
ison, Wisconsin last year, and
are planning to attend the re
gional contest in Champaigne,
111., again this year. They are
also regional champions.
Pershing Rifles originated
and sponsors the drill team.
In return, the Cadence Coun
tess members help the Persh
ing Rifles by giving speeches
during rush, and serving as
hostesses.
