The formula for victory in either one of these contests is necessarily dictated by the conditions confronting the Republican candidates in each of these states. Wise ly, ' Senator Goldwater has left the question of support of his candidacy up to each one of these Republioan hopefuls. The moderate dilemma is inherent in the concept of a two party system. The American political system with few exceptions has mechanically divided itself into two camps since the days of the Federalists and Anti-Federalists with the express purpose of gaining office. Although this mechariism remains, each party has been dominate over a par ticular period in the coun try's history. If the Republican Party is ever to regain the leader ship of both the executive and legislative branches, party organizations and leadership must be ready to accept electoral advantages from whom ever and where ever they might come and regardless of specific po litical philosophy, whenever it is to the advantage of a total party victory.
