the highest order. If there
is a single, heart problem
and necessity for America
now, it is education. Proper
schooling for nineteen mil
lion Negroes is not merely
their right, it is the nation's
urgent necessity.
If we fail in this we shall
have on our hands, without
the slightest doubt, an im
mense body of unemploy
ables, Negro and white.
Those who now worry about
crime, about the size and
cost of government, of wel
fare and policing agencies,
have seen nothing compared
to what is coming unless
we now make education for
all our prime order of business.
Museum Has Largest
Morrill Hall, containing 2.5
million museum specimens,
displays the world's largest
hog, camel and elephant. The
elephant and camel were both
found in Nebraska's rich
Agate Fossil Beds in the west
ern part of the state.

YR's Rally
Is Planned
The Young Republican
(YR) clubs of the University,
Lancaster County and Wesley
an will jointly sponsor a ral
ly and parade May 7 at 7 p.m.
originating at the north door
of the Union.
YR's will rally behind signs
of the candidates of their
choice for president, governor
and lieutenant governor.
President Bill Harding de
scribed the two-fold purpose
of the rally as "to impress
upon the voter that there is a
primary May 12, and to give
the Republican candidates for
national and state offices a
chance to present their views
and themselves to the pub
lic." The parade will start from
the front of the Union, pass
in front of Selleck Quad
rangle, down 16th street in
front of the fraternities and
sororities and then proceed to
O Street and back to the
Union.
The candidates or their rep
resentatives will give a five
minute talk and then be open
for questions, according to
Doug Paine, YR campaign
co-chairman. National candi
dates signs will be furnished

Dr. Samuel Fuenning, direc
tor of University health serv
ices, has received the pdward
Hitchcock award, highest
service recognition given by
the American College Health
Association. The association
cited Fuenning for his leader
ship in the field of college
health and his accomplish
ments while president of the
national organization, 1960-'61.
W. James Kroon, Seward
High mathematics teacher,
and Mike Gibson, Hay Springs
senior, were honored by the
Nebraska chapter of Mu Ep
silon Nu, national teaching
fraternity, at the University.
Kroon was awarded the Henz
lik Award, presented each
year to the outstanding secon
dary school teacher in Ne
braska. Gibson was awarded
the fraternity's full-tuition
freshman scholarship pre
sented annually to a high
school senior boy who plans
a career in teaching.
Mu Epsilon also named nine
University students to mem
bership. The nine are: Earl
Dredge, Roger Fenner, Ron
Griess, Clayton Luther, Gayle
McAdams, Dean Rasmussen,
Richard Schipporiet, Larry
Toothaker and Jerry Willi
ams. Rodney Crampton has been
awarded the Ideal Cement
Fellowship, an $1800 grant
plus tuition, to work toward
his master's degree in c i v i 1
engineering at the University.
Crampton is now a senior in
civil engineering at the Uni
versity. The Ideal Cement
Fellowship is awarded on the

THE TROUBLE WITH SPORTS SHIRTS IS
WHEN YOU WEAR AN ORDINARY TIE WITH ONE

HOWEVER there are times that are a little too dressy for an unadorned throat (as when you're
wearing a blazer), and for these the Ascot is finding increasing favor. Women apparently find
them madly attractive, and men like their go-to-hell feel once they get around to wearing them. The
trick seems to be in tying them; actually, there is nothing to it. All you do is slip the Ascot around
your neck, inside the collar, and loop one end over the other below your adam's apple; and loop it
twice so it won't slip down your chest after awhile. It just so happens that, foreseeing this demand,
we have gone into the Ascot game. You will find a nice selection at your Eagle Ascot store, which
is the same store where you buy Eagle Shirts. Not to change the subject, but this magnificent
short-sleeve sports shirt at about $9.00 which we have portrayed here is an exclusive Eagle pattern
in two-ply cotton oxford, and comes in blue, green, or burgundy stripes alternating with skinnier
black ones on an Eagle's Cream ground. We also have a magnificent matching check; let's sec if
we can describe it: it's something as though we ran transverse stripes in the same colors across this
