Husker Grid Team High InNU Annals Before assigning the 1963 football Cornhuskers to the archives, it's interesting to summarize their accomplish ments. Take the team itself: The 9-1 regular season record was the Huskers top production since 1905 (9-2). The 10-1 record, including the 13-7 victory over Au burn in the Orange Bowl, was the best record and the first time 10 victories had been achieved since 1903 (11-0). The 10-1 record ranks 7th on the all-time list and the .909 was the best percentage since 1914 (.938). Nebraska evened its bowl record at 2-2. Coach Bob Devaney's two-year mark of 19-3 was the second best tandem production in history, trailing only Walter C. (Bummy) Booth's 21-0 in 1902-1903. E.O. (Jumbo) Stiehm holds the best three-year mark with 23-0-1. Percentage-wise Stiehm ranks second for a two-year span with 15-0-1 in either 1913-14 or 1914-15.
