Manley, assistant professor of history, has been named an honorary member of Mu Epsilon Nu, an undergraduate honorary fraternity in education. Charles Stewart of Dallas, Texas, president of Mu Epsi lon Nu, said Dr. Manley was cited for his continuously out standing service to the teach ing profession in Nebraska and for his relationship with students. This is the second time Dr. Manley has been cited by the student group. In 1958, while teaching at Seward high school, he was named "t h e most outstanding male teach er in Nebraska." Edgerton at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology- where the two men are working on new techniques for teaching mu sic. ' v .Edgerton, a graduate of the University, is known as the father of electronic flash photography. They are using the most modern of electronic gadgets, high speed stroboscopic lights, special cameras and films and motion picture devices in their work. The two professors are at tracting the attention of mu sic teachers, artists and mo tion study authorities throughout the world. For the past two years they have been producing pictures for publication in music texts. Their latest work, still in the experimental stages, is the development of a special motion picture device which will allow the student violin ist to practice alone, by study ing the movements of fam ous artists flashed on a screen. Sheldon Draws 65,000 In Opening Months More than 65,000 persons toured the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery during the first months of operation. Norman Geske, director of the Gallery, said it now ap pears that attendance will reach 100,000 persons by the end of the first year. The Gal lery opened May 15, 1963. "Many people are paying return visits because there is a new exhibition every mnnih." Geske said. "In ad dition, there are many public lectures in the Gallery wmcn are of general interest." Music Sorority Sets Up Award A vearlv scholarship of $100 for women in music was es tablished this week by Mrs. Arthur A. Dobson of Lincoln through the University Foun dation, Herb Potter, Jr., Foundation secretary, an nounced Friday. The award will be given to a selected member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music sorority, who has dem onstrated scholastic ability in the field of music and is in need of financial assistance. The fund will be known as the "Sigma Alpha Iota Achievement Award" and the recipient will be selected each year by the scholarship com mittee of the department of music, Mr. Potter, said. Mrs. Dobson is a patroness member of the sorority, and Rosella Lange is president.
