The McCarthy Award is giv en to the "'Outstanding Col lege Republican Club" ir. the Midwest Federation, compris ing 13 states with 170 clubs. This award was given to the club in recognition of its year's activities, including its new library of Republican books and its aid to other col lege clubs in the area. Presi dent Sieve Stastny accepted the award. Awards To Honor Creativity Vreeland Committee Accepts Nominations The University Vreeland awards committee announced yesterday that all nominations must be turned into the de partments of art, English and music by Monday. The Vreeland Awards, tot aling SI ,000 in scholarships, are made each year to stu dents showing exceptional creative ability. The awards consist of $400 for creative work in art, and $300 each for writing (prose and poetry, and musical com position or performance of high quality. Each year a memorial ex hibition of a selection of the m'ork of the late Francis Vree land. Nebraska born artist will be shown. A number of his works were willed to the University for incorporation into the University collections.
