Intern Minister A STUDENT sitting in class Thurs day looking at the Nebraskan's full page picture on traffic safety asked: "What good does a safety campaign do when students are forced by the Univer sity to rush and speed in order to get home m time for Christmas?" This is a valid question and can be answered, in one respect, that our safety campaign is worthwhile because it just might save a life your life. However, the student was right in his criticism of the University calendar committee for approving such a late beginning for Christmas vacation. Most of the other schools dismiss classes on Wednesday, thus insuring plenty of travel time for students and staff. EVEN IF travel time is short stu dents and staff must remember all that they have heard, read and seen this week concerning traffic safety. It may mean that some of us won't be home by Christmas but at least we will get home. Drive and walk safely this vacation, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we will see you in '63. The an swer win appear next week along with another problem.) SOLUTION": The ques tion last week asked, "What is the least num ber of links from a chain with 2,000 links that must be disengaged from the chain in order that any specified camber of links, from one to 2,000 may be gathered together from the parts of the chain thus formed?" The solution is that only seven links need be disengaged from the chain. This leaves seven individual links and 8-sub-lengths with more than one link. The eight sub lengths are of the follow ing linkal magnitudes: 8 IS 22 4 128 255 S12 177 WINNER: Vernon Wiese, senior in engineer ing from Beaver Crossing.
