By RICK AKIN
Sports Editor
Jim Huge must be tired of
Miami.
The Husker gridder arrived
back from the Gotham Bowl
where the Huskers played
Miami (Fla.) in time to suit
up with Jerry Bush's cagers
to play Miami (0.) last Mon
day at the Coliseum.
Huge didn't see action but
his m a t e 8 played their fi
nest game of the season at
home to nip the Redskins,
72-69.
It was a see-saw battle all
through the first half as the
teams hit the dressing room
tied, 33-33, and nobody took
a definite advantage until the
last ten minutes of the con
test. Second Half Splurge
But with 7:48 left in the
game and the scoreboard
reading, 51-50, and the Husk
ers in the lead, Bill Vincent,
NU's sharpshooting center,
hit a hook shot and the
Huskers were on their way
to a ten-point splurge which
sewed up the game for Ne-
Drasica s iourtn win in six
starts
Ivan Grupe, a second half
deadeye, dropped in two long
jump shots and a fast break
layup to lead the ten-point
rally as Daryl Petsch added
a set snot
Miami had some tricks up
its sleeves, however, as the
Huskers had to fight through
a full court press as the vic
tory was not insured until
the final gun.
Miami Rally
Led by little Skip Snow, Mi
ami had a too late rally even
though Snow scored five
points in the last mmute of
play.
The score was tied 11 times
during the first half after the
Redskins jumped out to a
six-point lead in the opening
moments.
In the late stages of the
first half the Huskers opened
up a four-point lead as the
NU rebounders began to dom
inate the boards.
Chief Leads First Half
Once again Vincent led the
first half scoring with 16
points on six fielders and
four free throws.
And once again the Husk
ers had four men in double
figures. Grupe led all scorers
with 24 followed by Vincent's
18, Petsch's and Larry Born
schlegl's 11.
The Redskins had three
men in double digures led by
Charlie Dinkin's 19 ahead of
Snow's 18 and Charley Coles'
