The number one unit may be without a pilot though as Dennis Claridge spent one of iNebraska's warmest days this year, Thursday, in Stu dent Health. After calling sig nals at the initial two spring football sessions, the junior quarterback reported in with a sore throat. - If Claridge doesn't make it today, there will be two changes in the first squad. Dennis Stuewe, sidelined with a pulled leg muscle, will miss at least a couple more meet ings. Kent McCloughan, a fresh man and former Broken Bow dazzler, filled in for Stuewe Wednesday. Devaney expects to step up Williams Picked 'Most Valuable9 This year's gymnastic squad selected Charles Wil liams the most valuable team member on a basis of leader ship and value to the club. Williams, from Ainsworth, captained the squad to one of Nebraska's best seasons. The Huskers . won eight meets and lost two. They capped the season with the top laurels in the All College Championships at Boiilder. The initial clash is slated for 1:30 p.m. on the Husker diamond. Ron Havekost, a junior from Hooper, has been given the starting mound assign ment by Coach Tony Sharpe and Keith Sieck has the start ing nod for the nightcap. Sieck, a sophomore, helped the Huskers to a three game sweep over Tulsa last week end by stopping the Hurri canes with two hits and one run in six innings of the opener. A single game with the Jayhawks is slated for Satur day at 1:30 p.m. Ernie Bonis tall, or Ed Johnson will pitch for the Huskers.
