Purcell Receives
Award 2nd Time

Nebraskan Star of the Week
for the second week in a row
Purcell scored one of the Hus-
ker s two touchdowns and was
a standout on defense against
UKianoma Saturday,
The first play of the game
was a successful pass from
quarterback Dennis Claridge
to Purcell for 16 yards. The
senior end grabbed another
pass for 13 yards later in the
quarter to keep Nebraska's
touchdown drive going.
With eight minutes gone in
the second quarter, Purcell
snagged a 16 yard Claridge
toss and rambled nine yards
down the left sideline for Ne
braska's second and last
touchdown.

attended every football game
that Nebraska has played
at home and away since he
was a freshman. "They have
only missed one football game
that I have played in over
the last 12 years," added Purcell.
When questioned about Ne
braska's 21-14 loss to Okia
homa, Purcell, who has been
in on two previous Sooner up
sets, said. "We played onr
best ball of the season in the
first half, then we had a ment
al letdown in the second half.
After that penalty and their
touchdown pass, we just
conldnt do anything right."
The redhaired end, who al
ready has two letters in foot
ball, commented," Each loss
is a disappointment, and since
we lost more games than we
won this year, I guess you
might say it (the season) was
pretty disappointing."

Nebraska mat coach Bob
Mancuso.

year. The wrestling room
will be open from 3 p.m. to

Thornton was the number

in 127 carries for a 4.9 aver

erage is the best in the Con
ference and the Husker pilot
went 53 yards with two pi
racies. Claridge also complet
ed 38 passes this season for
464 yards.
