It will be a scrimage of two win-hungry clubs, as both K-State and Nebraska slipped in their initial contests. Iowa State handed Nebras ka its first frosh loss in three years, 19-0, two weeks ago. The "switches were necces sary because Nebraska backs Gary Krohn, Dennis Kirby, and John Sebastian have been out on the injury list and will probably not see full game duty today. 5305 "0" ST. "Stevens has been the top runner during the season and I expect him to place high," said Coach Frank Sevlgne. A steady, upcoming runner for the Scarlet is Jim Lewis, a sophomore from Butte. Oth ers competing for Nebraska include Clarence Scott, Stuart Tucker, John Portee and Paul Nielsen. Kansas, Oklahoma State and Colorado are all expected to be in the running for the team title. Oklahoma State, defending champion, will field mainly a junior team composed of John Har aughty, Jack McPhail and Harold Smith, who finished second, third and fourth, re spectively, last year. The Nebraska Cornhuskers will be minus two members of their starting backfield when they meet Iowa State to morrow at 1:30 at Ames" in a Big Eight football meeting which will decide fourth place in the conference. Fullback Rudy Johnson and halfback Willie Ross, sopho more Scarlet starters, will be sidelined due to injuries suf fered in the Kansas game, Coach Bill Jennings an nounced Thursday. Johnson has a wrenched knee and Ross is suffering from a real bad charley horse, Jennings reported. The loss of the two may force the Huskers to re-align their backfield. Thunder Thornton, the Huskers' lead ing ground gainer may be used at either left half or fullback, and, if Thornton is switched to full, soph quar terback Dennis Claridge may be moved to left half with Ron Meade doing the signal calling. . With Claridge and Meade both in, the Huskers would have two passing threats plus the powerful running Thorn ton to bolster the NU attack. Claridge, the league's lead ing punter with a 40-yard av erage per kick, might also quick kick from the halfback slot. Sport Shots By Bullet Despite the upsets which shook up the nation's top ten teams last week, the prediction percentage was hiked last week with 34 right, 15 wrong and one tie for a .694 mark. The season mark now is 200 right and 98 wrong for a .671 percentage. The NU coaches have shifted around the Husker back field this week in, ari, attempt to re-vitalize the Husker of fense and replace injured fullback Rudy Johnson but this corner foresees another loss for the Huskers, who, despite a weight advantage, are being thinned by injuries.
