Hit Scoring Column

Nebraska led aO lie way in moving to a 77-52 win over
Denver University before an estimated 2,500 fans at the
Coliseum Tuesday night.
AH the Husker cagers entered the scoring column with
Jim KowaHce leading the parade with 16 points. He was
followed by Jan Wall with 12. Tom Russell and Rex Swett
added 10 each.

the hands of
Wichita.

Nebraska's widest margin
came with 13:20 left in the
game when a free throw and
tip in by Bill Bowers gave
the Hnskers a 58-23 lead.
Denver was never in the
game as the Hnskers jumped
off to an 11-0 lead before the
Pioneers Dennis Hodge found
the range with a jump shot
for the first Denver score.
The 11-0 Husker margin came
on a long jumper and a lay
tip by Wall, a jumper and a
lay up by Russell, and Ko
walke's lay up and charity
toss.
Beach Emptied
Bush emptied" his bench in
the second half as reserves
played three fourths of the
final 20 minutes after Nebras
ka had taken a 40-22 halftone
lead.
Nebraska finished the first
half just as they started it

lead the Denver scoring.

led all rehounders with 12.

off during the second half to

on 28 of 71 attempts.

serve a 58-55 win last night
in the Nebraska-Denver pre
liminary game.
Don Smidt former Husker
star, teamed with Bob Prokap
to give the Denis the 1-2
scoring and rebounding punch
they needed throughout the
game for the win. Joe Lytle
hit 13 counters to supple
ment Smidt's and Prokop's 17
and 14 point exhibitions.
The fresh, hart by the al
most total loss of 8-8 Bill
ViBcent who saw only limited "

the first period to catch np.
Vincent who suited np for
the game, was felled by a

Daryl Petsch. 6-5 center

game.

bined again, however, to send
the victors back into a
commanding lead with
Smidt's two charity tosses
and Prokop's lay up. Smidt
canned three more free
tosses within a two minute
period to ice the game.
