"The University rented the houses until the main tenance became too great to be economical so they are now being torn down and the land filled in and cleared," he said. A temporary parking lot will occupy the space until future needs require the land to be used for building, Don aldson said. "As of yet no definite plans for construc tion are being considered." The business manager said that the tearing down and clearing of the land will de pend a lot on the weather. He said it should be ready to be used as a parking lot by spring and possibly sooner depending on the weather. It has not been decided whether the parking lot will be restricted to residents or non-residents of the campus. "This will be decided when the lot is ready," said James Pittenger, assistant ' to t he Chancellor. The city police arrived with the campus police for the first time at 11 p.m. Wednesday but found only branches. At 4 a.m. Thursday the tree was found in the attic, according to campus police. Golka said that an unwrit ten policy of the house, which he was bound to carry out, was that a committee is ap pointed each year to "buy a Christmas tree or obtain it by other means." He said that this policy would now be abolished.
