of the State YR Constitution
and planning for the state
convention to be held in May
at North Platte.
Mrs. Roeser said she would
report on the successful cam
paign' to encourage Young
Republicans to file for county
and national GOP conven
tions. Twelve YR's have filed
for the National Convention
as delegate or alternate, she
said.
Beautification
Conference Held
The first state wide confer
ence on community beautifi
cation will be held at the Uni
versity Monday in t h e Stu
dent Union.
Careful and critical review
of t h e natural and physical
beauty of Nebraska is the pur
pose of the conference, which
is expected to bring together
some of t h e state s leading
community planners.
Arthur Ward, head of the
conferences and institutes at
the University and conference
coordinator, said leading
architects, nurserymen, for
esters and professors will be
attending.
University officials have re
ported that 20 Nebraska cities
and towns have already ar
ranged to be represented by
their mayors, city planners
and park and municipal offi

Ivy Day Sing Rides,
Deadline Announced
Ivy Day Sing rules and a
Monday deadline for entries
have been set for organized
womens group that plan to
participate.
The annual sing, sponsored
by Kosmet Klub and AWS,
has listed rules for the wom
en's sing, according to chair
man Carol Kuchera.
The women's deadline for
submitting the S3 entry fee,
name of the song, songlead
er and an alphabetical list of
the singers is Monday.
The information must be
submitted by 5 p.m. to Miss
Kucera at the Alpha Xi Delta
house.
Rules for the women's sing
are:
1. All organized groups of
women at the University may
participate in the sing, ex
cept honorary groups.
2. Not more than 25 girls,

represent any group, nor less
than eight. Freshmen women
may participate.
3. All members must be
carrying at least 12 hours
this semester with no failures
in the 12 hours.
4. No professional person
may assist in the preparation
of the song. Non-professional
alumnae help may be used.
This rule is to be strictly en
forced. 5. No group shall wear like
outfits especially .purchased
for the sing or have instru
mental accompaniment. Any
group doing so will be dis
qualified. 6. No medley of fsongs, no
songs longer than five min
utes in length, nor any songs
that have been sung in the
previous sings of the past
three years can be used this
year.
7. The director must re
main "active" in the group
participating and be regular
ly enrolled in the university.
8. All groups must remain
after their participation on
Ivy Day for recall by the
judges if necessary.
9. Any group not ready to
go on at the exact scheduled
time of performance will be

the music of "Bali Hai,"
"Quiet Village", "'Ebb
Tide", "Beyond the Blue
Horizon" and many others
in the 12 act show at 7:45
tonight in the Coliseum
pool.

Recognized
For Photos
A University graduate stu
dent, Ilmars Didrichsons, re
ceived a second and third
place and two honorable
mentions in photography
competition at an annual pho
tography contest sponsored
jointly by four organizations.
The sponsors were Kappa
Alpha Mu-Encyclopedia Bri
tannica, Life Magazine, Na
tional Press Photographers
Association and the Associa
tion of College Unions.
Didrichsons received a sec
onrl in the feature photo com
petition for "Late Swimmer."
He received a third place for
his portfolio and two honor
able mentions for his sports t
picture, "The Spill." and
news photo, "After the Fire."
The picture portfolio was
considered the top classifica
tion in judging. The judges
considered the portfolio a just
evaluation of the contestants
work for the entire year on
the basis of quality consist
ency and versatility.
Didrichsons folio contained
about 20 pictures, the maxi-
I mum number permitted. This
included pictures from four
different subject areas in
cluding a picture series in
one area.
