The Daily Nebraska Page 3 All IM Basketball. unite icfeect Wednesday, March 9, 1960 Q By Dave Wohlfarth The 1960 Daily Nebraskan Intramural All-Star team fea tures heighth, speed and some fine shooters. Bob Prokop of Kappa Sigma is the starting center of the team, the guards are footballers LeRoy Zentic (PEK) and Dick Ro sier (Avery), and John Gut schlag of Phi Gamma Delta and Phi - Kappa Psi's .Jim Huge are the Pag's selection for forwards. The selection of the starting quintet was based upon the number of vbtes each re ceived from Intramural man agers on their All-Opponent teams. The only repeater from last year's All-Intramural team is Prokop, who was this year's leading vote get ter. Prokup averaged 17 ioints per game this season in lead ing the Kappa Sigs to the Fraternity 'A' finals. The 6' 7" pivot man played his best game against the Phi Psis, dropping in 21 points and clearing the boards in su perb fashion. Threat Anywhere Prokop is not only danger ous in close, but is also a threat from anywhere. Quite often, he comes out to slow down play and bring the op posing team's big man away from the hoop. A tough man on the boards, 'Porky', has a deft touch with his southpaw shots. Last year Prokop led the Chemists to the All-University title and this year will be his fifth straight as a mem ber of the All-University team. He was also an All Star on Nebraska's AAU team in 1959 and 1960. Prokop, a graudate student majoring in chemistry, is a member of Phi Lambda Up silon. Prokop attended W 1 1 b e r High School where he won 12 letters. Participating in bas ketball, track and football. 'Porky' is very active in intramurals participating in football, softball, volleyball, badmiton, horse shes, table tenhis and basketball. He rated the Phi Gams as the toughest team the Kappa Sigs have faced this year. Guards Are Footballers The starting guards, Rosier and Zentic, are alsc both guards on NU's football t Rosier is 5' 10", 190 pound junior and Zentic, a senior, stands 5' 11" and tips the scales at 200. Rosier was a main cog in Avery's spirited attack this year. Dick hit 17 points per game with a high of 26. The burly floor general was a 2nd team selection on the Intra mural team when he was a freshman. Rosier, who is active in the intramural bowling, soft ball, golf, paddle ball and basketball programs, has won two varisty football letters. He is a high school gradu ate of Watertown, S.D., where he won three monograms as a guard in football, two as a basketball guard and three in track. Rosier is in Teachers Col lege and plans to be a physi cal therapist. Zentic played forward for PEK but is listed on the Rag's team as a guard, due to his shifty flor play and hot outside shooting. The Rock Island, III., product has a deadly long Jump shot. Besides basketball, Zentic plays intramural volleyball and in 1957 was a member of the 2nd place team in the A 1 1-University Volleyball Tournament. Zentic is a member of the Husker varsity football and baseball squads. He has won three letters in football and will be seeking his second baseball 'N' this spring. The hard-hitting outfielder was a top hitter in NU's sur prising second place confer ence finish last spring. This fall LeRoy won the Fred Lorenz Award 'for the Most Outstanding Lineman for Nebraska. Top Reboundcr One. of the top rebounders in intramural basketball th year was Phi Gam John Gutschlag. The 6' 4", 198 pounder hauled down many rebounds in a successful sea son for the Phi Gams. 'Gutsch' averaged 14 points a game, playing forward. His top game was against the Kappa Sigs, who ranked as the toughest team Gutschlag faced.
