Monday, January 111960 The Dally Nebraskan Page 3 Cold Huskers Lose To KU Missouri Is Next Opponent By Hal Brown Nebraska's slump ridden cagers, connecting on only 30 per cent of their shots from the field, dropped their second conference game in as many starts to Kansas 60- 47 Saturday night The Huskers take to too road this week in search of their first loop win and their first win of the new year. They meet Missouri tonight and then travel to Boulder for an encounter with Colorado Saturday. Huskers On TV ' The Colorado game will be regionally televised Saturday atiernoon. it wiu be the final game for Nebraska until aft er final exams when they host the Buffs Jan. 30. Saturday's game was the first conference test for the Jayhawks and gives them a 1-0 record. Nebraska eutrebounded the taller Kansans 4143' bat couldn't keep pace with them in scoring as the Jayhawks sank 25 of 56 field goal at tempts for 44.6 per cent The opening minutes were a good indication of things to come as the Huskers went eight minutes after Hersch Turner opened the scoring with a jump shot until Bob Harry hit the next Husker field goal. Nebraska scored only six points during the first 13'i minutes as the Jayhawks raced to a 20-6 lead and the Huskers never caught them. The closest Nebraska came after that was 57-32 early in the second half but with Bill Bridges and AI Donaghne leading the way the Jay hawks stretched the margin to 43-32 midway In the sec ond period. j Turner and Harry were the only Huskers hitting close to 50 per cent from the field. Al Donaghue of Kansas topped all scorers for the eve ning with 18 followed by Wayne Hightower with 16 and Bill Bridges with 14. Bridges was the top rebounder with 17. Missouri, tonight's oppon ent, lost a 65-60 decision to Kansas State Saturday. It was the Tigers . second, loss against no wins in conference play as they dropped an ear lief game to Oklahoma State. The Tigers are 6-6 overall while the Huskers have a 4-9 overall mark. Stocker's winning time of 2:34.4 was 2.4 seconds under the old record also held by Stocker. His previous record was 2:36.8 set against Kansas State in a pre-Christmas meet The loss gives Nebraska a 14 record in dual matches with the win coming over Kansas State. Raschke's win gives him a record of two wins, one loss and one tie. He is the only Nebraskan to win this season. Never Trailed Raschke never trailed in his match with the heavier Blake as he opened the match with a 2-0 lead on a take down. Blake came back to tie it up on a reversal only to have Raschke score one point with an escape. The Nebraska heavyweight was leading 3-2 when the pin came. The closest Nebraska could come to victory in the other matches was in the 147-pound class where Wayne Reeve dropped a 7-5 decision to Mankato's John Lindeman. Reeves and Lindeman battled to a 0-0 tie for the first three minutes. But Lindeman took a 2-0 lead as the second period opened. Reeves made it 21 with an escape only to fall behind 4-1 when Lindeman scored a takedown. Reeves escaped once more to make it 4-2 as the second period ended. Reeves Escapes With Lindeman on top to start the final three minute period. Reeves narrowed the gap to 4-3 with another es cape maneuver but Linde man fought right back with a takedown to make it 6-3. Reeves once more closed the deficit to one point with a re versal but Lindeman es caped to make the score 7-5 as the match ended.
