Cupid Reveals 35 New

Cupid went hunting during
Christmas vacation and cap
tured 35 couples who an
nounced engagements and
pinnings Monday night.
The chubby cherub slacked
off this vacation according to
last year's post-Christmas fig
ures of 12 pinnings and 42 en
gagements. Three more Phi Gams en
tered the realm of "at
tached". Commented a Phi
Gam, "I think well all go
into mourning if this gets
much worse."

A student may enter pic
tures in the portfolio cate
gory, or In the news, feature,
sports, creativity, portrait or
picture story classes.
Judging will take place
March 19 at the School of
Journalism, University of
Missouri at Columbia. Winner
of the portfolio earns an all
expense paid week at Life.
All first-place winners re
ceive a set of the Encyclo
pedia Britannica, and all sec
ond place and third placers
are rewarded with plaques,
trophies and World Lan
guage dictionaries.
In addition, the winning
pictures will be displayed at
the KAM national convention
late in March and then will be

program will include modern
dance selections by Orchesis,
University dance group.
"From Bach to Gershwin
with Audun Ravnan" will be

A new Educational Televi
sion series dealing with the
sense of values of the Ameri
can people according to how

begin Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m.

"Action at Law," a documentary-drama
on the trial
of a civil lawsuit, returns to
Channel 12 on Tuesday and I
Thursday beginning Jan. 12
at 9 p.m.
This series is based on an
actual automobile injury case
which was tried in the St.
Louis Circuit Court.
Man's attempt to control
nature and nature's "Equa
tion of Nature" series that
will begin Jan. 13 at 8:30
p.m.
Host for the series will be
Dr. John Weihing, extension
plant pathologist at the University.

Term Papers Suggested
Instead of Final Exams
The Indiana University
Daily Student has suggested
a remedy for the pain of final
exams.
The suggestion is having
term papers instead. The
erm paper "would be the
student's effort of carefully
thought through and pre
sented material and would
indicate what the student has
learned in the course."
It wouldn't be dependent on
the student's frame of mind

College Credit
History Course
"History of Nebraska," a
college credit course, will be
shown over KUON-TV next
semester.
Offered in cooperation with
the University Extension Di
vision, the class will be
taught by Dr. James Olson,
chairman of the history de
partment, and will carry two
credit hours.
The course covers the early
exploration of Nebraska as
well as the political, economic
and social development from
1854 -to the present. "
The History of. Nebraska
series will be included in
Channel 12's evening schedule
effective in February. The
total cost of enrollment is $30.

of California can avoid the
long lines on the day of pre
enrollment by enrolling
through the mail, the Daily
Californian says.
The check for the registra
tion fee is mailed along with
the registration cards. Now
students just have to stand
in line to pick up their regis
tration cards which they then
mail to the University.
Serenades have been
banned at Indiana University,
according to an editorial in
the Indiana Daily Student.
The reason is because they
were used to promote candi
dates and to provide gim
micks for campaigning in
contests.

Lost Picture
Is Returned
One of the two pictures
which disappeared from the
Student Union has' been re
turned after the art depart
ment and Union board decid
ed to remove all art works on
display.
On Saturday morning a jan
itor found it on the dock by
the side door of the Union. He
washed and cleaned it so no
fingerprints were taken, ac
cording to Allen Bennett, Un
ion manager.
