Mermen To Make Home
Debut Against Wildcats
The Nebraska mermen will
make their home debut Thurs
day at 4 p.m. when they
host the swimmers from Kan
sas State in a dual meet at
the Coliseum Pool.

Nebraska's cagers will be
trying to start a new winning
streak when they entertain
Michigan State at 8:05 p.m.
Thursday. ;
The Huskers three-game
winning string was snapped
by Notre Dame 70-62 Monday
night. It will be the last
home game for Jerry Bush's
quintet before they leave on
a western road trip -prior to
Christmas.
Nebraska will meet Oregon
State twice and Montana on
the trip and then the Huskers
will jump right into the Big
Eight pre-season tournament
which starts Dec. 26. Ne
braska's first opponeift in the
tourney "is Colorado.
Spartans Favored
Michigan State will be in
the favorite's role for Thurs
day night's encounter but
Notre Dame coach Johnny
Jordan doesn't go along with
this. '
"Nebraska is the best
team we have played to date
and we've met three Big
Ten teams," commented Jor
dan after Monday's game.
The three Big Ten teams the
Irish have played are Michi
gan State, Wisconsin and
Northwestern.
Michigan State defeated
Notre Dame 61-56 in an over
time affair. The Spartans,
last year's Big Ten cham
pions, have a record of two
wins and no losses with the
other win coming over Bowl
ing Green. They have been
idle since the Notre Dame
win Dec. 5.

Is Named Star of The Week
Jim Raschke, heavyweight
wrestler, is the Daily Nebras
kan Star of The Week for the
week of Dec. 7 to 12.
The 6-5, 225-pound sopho
more scored the only win for
the Huskers the .past week
end as they lost to Oklahoma
33-3 and Oklahoma State 32-0.
Raschke defeated Dale Lew-
6-5 to save the Nebraska
squad from a shutout at the
hands of Oklahoma.
Takedown
Lewis, an AAU champion
and Pan-American Games
champion, yielded an early
takedown to Raschke when

fired. After Raschke scored
on another takedown to make
Lewis twisted free and leg'
dived for a 4-4 draw.
The Husker heavy re

at 6-4 just before the second
period ended. Lewis scored on
an escape to pull within one

As NCAA All-Americans
Nebraska has had 17 foot
ball All-Americans since
the practice of selecting these
teams was begun, according
to the NCAA Official Football
Guide.
Only five of these stars ap
peared in Memorial Stadium
in the last 20 years. Tackle
Jerry Minnick, 1952, was the
last Husker to be selected.

Wrestlers Seek
First Victory
In Friday Meet
Nebraska's wrestlers will
be seeking their first win of
the campaign when they
make their first appearance
at home Friday night with
Colorado Mines furnishing
the opposition. The opening
match is scheduled for 7:30.

The only two-time award
winner in Cornhusker history
was Ed Weir, a tackle, who
made the 1924 and 1925 star
list. Weir was also a Husker
track star. .

In Triangular Meet
The Nebraska rifle team
finished second in a triangu
lar rifle match with the Air
Force Academy and Colorado
Mines Saturday.
The Air Force was the win
ner with 1427 points. Nebras
ka had 1401 and Colorado
Mines scored 1353.
Bill Holland was the lead

points followed by Marvin
