Wrestling
Entries Due
Friday Noon
Entry blanks for the intra
mural wrestling tournament
are due In Room 402 of the
Physical Education Building
by noon Friday.
Organizations may enter as
many wrestlers in any weight
class as they wish but a con
testant may enter only one
weight. The weight classes
are as follows; 123 lbs., 130
lbs., 137. lbs., 147 lbs., 157 lbs.,
167 lbs., 177 lbs. and heavy
weight. All contestants must have
a minimum of five practice
sessions befont Dec. 6 on the
varsity mats in the Coliseum
basement. Practice sessions
are held between 3 and 6
p.m. The wrestling manager
will take roll and anyone who
has not attended five prac
tices will be ineligible for
intramural wrestling.
Contestants will weigh in
between 3 and 6 p.m. Dec. 7
and preliminary matches will
begin Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
The scoring will be as fol
lows: First place c o u n t s 10
points, second place 7 points,
third place 5 points and
fourth place 3 points. One
additional point shall be
awarded for each fall secured
throughout the meet.
Alpha Gamma Rho won the
all-University championship
last year while Gus II cap
tured the Selleck crown and
Phi Epsilbn Kappa was the
independent champion.
A trophy will be awarded
to the team champions with
medals going to individual
champions in each weight
class.

Thursday, afternoon according
to plans of the Union games
committee.
The billards room will be
reserved for girls only from
3 to 6 p.m. Merle Retting,
Union games manager will be
available to give free instruc
tions in billiards and snooker
during those hours.
Student IDs are required
and a small, fee will be
charged for the use of equip
ment. "Okay gals, this is your
hours," says Barney Bauer-
meister, games committee

Nebraska roared back from
a 30-26 halftime deficit with
a blistering second half to
take a 73-46 victory over Stew
art Air Force Base in the
opening game of the cage
season for the Huskers be
fore an estimated crowd of
5,500 Tuesday night.
Jerry Bush's cagers ripped
the nets for 47 points in the
second half with 30 of them
coming in the last eight min
utes. Al Maxey and Hersch
Turner led the second half
surge with 13 and nine points
respectively.
Maxey Leads
Maxey topped the evening's
scoring with 18 points. Turn
er was a close second with
17.
Nebraska took a 2-0 lead
with one minute gone in the
game on a short jump shot
by Turner but the G o 1 d e n
Falcons fired right back to
tie it up on a long jump shot
by Don Davidson. -
The Huskers regained the
lead at 5-4 on another jump
shot- by Turner and a free
throw by Maxey only to fall
behind again when Ted Switz
ler hit a long jump shot for
Stewart.
Nebraska held the lead
only twice more during the
cold first half. The Huskers
led 13-12 and 15-14. Trailing
15-14 with 10 minutes remain
ing in the half, the Golden
Falcons pumped seven
straight points through the
basket while holding the
Huskers scoreless to take a
21-15 lead.
Turner Ties
Stewart led from that point
until five minutes after
the second half opened when
Turner scored on a tip-in to
tie the scoreat 34-all. Turner
was also fouled and the Husk
er captain hit the free throw
to make it 35-34 in favor of
Nebraska.
Dave Mowbray connected
on a jump shot to give the
Golden Falcons the Jead for
the final time at 36-35 as the
Huskers raced to a 43-36 lead
on a jump shot by Turner, a
lay in by Maxey, a lay in
and a free throw by Turner
and another jump shot by
Maxey.
From that point on, Ne
braska continued to increase
the lead over the winless
Stewart team. The Golden
Falcons suffered losses to
Geneva College 70-(?8, Iona
69-63 and Tuck Tapers 111-98
prior to last night's game.
Nebraska hit only 10 of 29
field goals the first half for
a 34.5 percentage while Stew
art found the range on 14 of
34 for a 41.2 mark.
Both teams had trouble
from the free throw line dur
ing the first half with Ne
braska connecting on 6 6f 15
attempts for 40 per cent and
the Golden Falcons finding
the mark on 2 of 5 for 40
per cent also.
Nebraska out-rebound-,
ed their opponents during the
first half 31-21.
For the entire game, the
Huskers hit 30 of 76 field goal
attempts for a percentage of
39.5 and had 13 of 31 from
the charity stripe for 41.9 per
cent. Nebraska dominated the
boards throughout the game
gathering in 77 rebounds to
only 44 for the Stewart quin
tet. Maxey, Turner and Bob
Harry tied for the lead in re
bounds for the Huskers with
10 each, followed by Jim Kow
alke with seven and ' Rex
Swett with six.
All-Big Seven
Virg Riley led the Stewart
scoring with 11 points and
Mowbray, an all-Big Seven
choice while playing collegi
ate ball at Colorado added
10 for the Golden Falcons,
Riley led the Stewart five in
rebounding with 10.
