This week's Daily Nebras
kan star of the week is a
familiar name in this depart
ment. He's Carroll Zaruba.
who turned in an outstanding
performance to spark the
Huskers past Colorado, 14-12.
Zaruba has been 'Star of
the Week' twice before, gain
ing recognition for his per
formances in the '58 and '59
Kansas games. His play this
year has enabled the veteran
halfback to wind up a highly
successful career at Nebras

Ten Seniors
To Captain
NU Again
By Norm Beatty
The Huskers went through
a defensive scrimmage Tues
day in preprration for the
Kansas State game. The
stress was on the "spread
formation" used by the Wild
cats.
Freshman quarter
backs Ernest Bonistall and
John Faiman played the role
of K-State's quarterback,
John Solmos.
Coach Bill Jennings put his
nearly-full-streneth s a u a d
through their first outside
practice this week.
The only player held out of
the contact drill was iniured
junior halfback Pat Fischer.
Jennings said that he expects
Fischer to be ready by Saturday.
As in last week's victorv
over Colorado, the 10 seniors
will again share the captain
duties.
The ten seniors who will be
ending their collegiate foot
ball careers are left ends
Roger Brede and Guy Sapp.

A win would give Nebraska
an opportunity for a four-way
tie for third place in the fi
nal Big Eight standings with
an overall record of 5 wins
and 5 losses and a conference
mark of 3-3.
Indiana games this year. In
both games, these were the
only scores for Nebraska, as
the Huskers edged OS 7-6,
and lost to Indiana 23-7.
73-Yard Run
Saturday, Zaruba broke
through right tackle for a 73-
yard TD scamper which
turned out to be the winning
touchdown. He picked up 129
yards in 18 carriers as he led
the Husker attack.
