The young Huskers were headed by Kansas, who had 49 1928 points, and Okla homa, with 34 1928 points. Nebraska had defeated Kan sas in a postal meet earlier in the year. Much of the Jayhawk suc cess was contributed by Bill Dotson, who won four events. He copped everything from the halfmile up to the two mile run. All of Nebraska's points, except one, were gained on the track. The only field point , the Huskers managed was ! scored by Bob Cross in the j broad jump. Cross, fonner Boys Town ! athlete, was the only winner for the yearlings. He won the 60-yard dash in 6.3. He also finished secend to Virgil Cole man of Kansas State in the 440. Curtis McClinton, former Kansas all-state footballer, was the only other trackster to win more than one event. He tied for first in both the 60-yard high and low hurdles. Leads Husker Scorers Herschell Turner led the Cornhusker basketball scorers with a total of 428 points and 17.1 average in the 25 games of the 1958-'b9 season. Rex Ekwall holds the three season mark with a total of 854. "H.T." needs only 181 points as a senior to wipe this mark off the books. His two-year total is 674. By Tom Davieg The All-University Intra mural Basketball Champion ship was won, 52-49 by the game before the Class A state H.S. finals. The Silver Seals, wrestled the crown from the Sigma Nus in a furious sec ond half battle. The Sigma Nus opened the scoring with a free threw and that was last time that the Snakes saw daylight. Chemists Big Lead Bob Prokop and Jerry Mil ler could not miss as the Chemists had built tip a 23-14 lead by the end of the first quarter. Prokop sank 13 points in the first period to spark the Seals on their way. The Sigma Nus were unable to find the range and had trouble rebounding through out the first half. The Chemists remained hot in the second quarter and they held a 35-25 half time advantage. However, in the second half the Seals cooled off and the Sigma Nus closed the gap to 36-33 with 16 minutes remain ing in the game. Cut To One Bob Sullivan then hit a jump shot from the key hole and the Chemists were only ahead 38-37. The teams traded baskets in the final minutes of the third quarter but the Seals held on to their lead and the period ended with the Chem ists on top 44-42. In the final period, the Sigma Nus were within one or two points of the Chemists, but just couldnt turn the trick. Jerry Wagner and Don Wenzl poured in a steady stream of free throws to keep the Snakes alive. Bob Prokop who garnered 18 points in the first half was high for the Chemists. How- ever, he was able to sink only four free throws in the second stanza for 22 points. Sidelights: Both teams looked as if they were up tor the state basketball tourna ment as they had colorful uniforms. The Sigma Nus played in black and gold suits with Sigma Nu on the back and the Chemists had yellow and gray suits with Silver Seals on both sides. The clock was kept running throughout the final period because of the tournament game that followed. Pica, a fuzzy black dog of unknown variety, has thrown his leash into the political arena at Iowa State. Pica, who as the dark-dog of Iowa elections is running for president of the student body, admits frankly that he is apathetic about campus politics. In a front page picture spread in the Iowa State Daily, he asked for the votes of all students protesting against those protesting against the campaign. Really.
