Student Nurse
Wins New Title
' Mary White, a University
School of Nursing senior, was
named "student nurse of the
year" by the Nebraska State
Student Nurse Assn.
The first, "student nurse
of the year" to be selected,
Miss White, 21, is in the
, Army Nurse Corps Reserve,
and will enter the service
next June as a second lieu
tenant. '
She was chosen Tuesday,1
from a field which included
contestants from each of the
state's 10 other schools at the
oni-day student nurse con
vention which preceded the
Nebraska State Nurses Assn.

Production
The conference will feature
speakers on the various as
pects of producing a college
engineering magazine.
Awards will also be made
for magazines with the best
covers, layout, art, technical
stories or non-technical features.
Among the speakers will be
Jay Ross of Esquire Maga
zine who will discuss business
and circulation building tech
niqques, and R. G. Callahan
o f Chemical Engineering
Magazine, who will talk on
production techniques.
T. B. Peterson, Dean of the
Illinois College of Journalism,
will judge the various maga
zines. 48 Schools
Approximately 46 schools
are expected to attend the
conference including MIT,
Stanford, Georgia Tech and
many of the other major land
grant colleges in the nation.
Merk Hobson, dean of the
University College of Engi
neering, is a former president
of the conference.
