Pat Johnson, Chi Omega, was named Miss Derby Day, with Mary Sullivan, Delta ueua ueita, wiinung second and Yvonne Young, Alpha vmicron t uurd. Kappas Second econa place for the most contest points went to Kappa Kappa Gamma and Alpha Phi won third. Free Dance Lessons Free dancing lessons will be available at the College Activities building on Ag cam pus, Oct 15. The second event, a treasure hunt con sisting of searching for three Items in a hay stack, was won by Eleanor Billings, Al pha Chi Omega. Rocky Jorgenson. Delta Gamma, copped first in the chugging contest, while Judy Brown, Pi Beta Phi, won first in the number search. Dressing Relay The dressing relay, using gunny sacks and tires, was won by Connie Cole, S u k 1 Tinan, Carol Pettit and Gin ger Robertson, Kappa Kappa Gamma. Mary Anderson, Kappa Kappa Gamma, caught a chicken the fastest in the chicken chase. Susie Maxwell and Carol Carney, Alpha Xi Delta, won first in bottle filling. The eighth event, which consisted of sliding under a bar a few inches off the ground, was declared a three way tie. Judy Wolcott and Carol Wood- ling. Alpha Chi Omega Carol Frey and Sue Sahn, Alpha Phi, and Bobbie Donnelly and lv and Jackie Poff, Kappa Delta, were the three winners. The ninth event was can celed because of time. SHUITON Live Programing Feature of Channel 12 Old Favorites, Neic Formats On Fall TV Lineup Live programming will lead the way to Channel 12 viewing this fall. Five new 1 i v e programs have been added to the three returning from last year's schedule. The new fall schedule be gins October 6. Exercises "Sports and Your Figure" will begin the week Mondays at 7 p.m. The fundamentals of body movement will be discussed and illustrated by members of the Women's Physical Education Depart ment. Discussed in the chapter are the necessity of large a mounts of capital to start farming, the leasing and credit arrangements used by beginning farmers, the im portance of family assistance, competition for farms and the migration of farm youth ont of farm areas. Muehlbeier prepared the chapter: "Land Use Prob lems in the Great Plains." It deals with the retirement of certain low-grade cropland to grass, adapting agriculture to a variable climate, adjust ing production, conserving soil and water, adapting crops and improving the i range. j How To Organize Muehlbeier is also co-author with Fred Clarenback, USDA, ! In it 93 author ities tell in a non-technical language how we acquired our domain,- its importance in history; the extent and val ues of Indian, State and pub lic lands; land uses and prob lems in Alaska, Hawaii, Puer to Rico and each section of the continental United States; forested lands; and the ac quisition of land for military purposes, highways, subdivi sions, and airports. "Land" is a congressional document. Each senator and representative in Congress has a limiled number of cop ies for distribution. Requests for copies should not be sent to the Depart ment of Agriculture but to the Superintendent of Doc uments, Government Print ing Office, Washington 25, D. C - 'I bers of the University athletic department. 'Channel 12 Presents", an hour-long program at S p.m. on Friday evenings, will spot light various campus groups and attractions. A tour of the Art Galleries, a poetry read ing session, and the Interna tional Geophysical Year at the University of Nebraska Museum will be Included in the schedule beginning Oct. 10. Returning to Channel 12 screens will be Dr. Lucile Cy preansen, "The Story Lady". Each Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. she will appear with original adaptations of familiar folk and fairy tales for children. "Conversation Piece" "Conversation Piece" 8 30 Wednesday evenings, will be seen again this year under a slightly different format. The series will deal with the well known literature studied in high school. The October features the "Ancient Mar iner," "The Merchant of Venice" and "Gulliver's Travels."
