KNUS Savings
5 Days A Week
Campus Station Features
Music, Immediate News
"It swings," that's the word
from Steve Hansen, general
manager of KNUS radio,
about his station.
Student operated, commer
cially sponsored, the Univer
sity's campus station goes on
the air Mondays from 5 to 11
p.m. five days a week.
Music, News
Program director Pro
Sherman has announced that
the basic format will provide
students with more music
per Lour than other stations
plus immediate campus and
world Dews.
"It's really a sis hour pro
gram featuring popular mu
sic, a dash of news, sports
and weather," Sherman said.
"Disc jockeys will give only
the time and temperature be
tween music, thus doing away
with endless ad-libbing," he
added.
Under the supervision of
the Speech Department, the
station will continue to offer
realistic training in radio and
a professional sounding enter
tainment media for the entire
campus. Hansen said.
New Management
Because many of the stu
dents on last year's staff are
currently employed in off-
campus stations, the manage
ment of KNUS has changed.
Department heads are: gen
eral manager, Steve Hansen;
program director. Pro Sher
man; sales manager. Chuck
Piper; promotion director,
Mary McKnight; traffic,
Dixie Helsm; continuity, Beth
Toomey; news, Jim Seacrest;
and sports, Steve Greenberg
and Bob Wirz.
Lincoln radio stations will
cooperate with KNUS mem
bers in general station operation.
KNUS will broadcast all the
home football games starting
with the first game this Sat
urday at 1:30.
