EWorld Affairs 'Experiment9 Praised
"This week terminates an
important experiment in the
University of Nebraska's
Summer Session," said Frank
E. Sorenson, Director of Sum
mer Session. -
This summer the one day
World Affairs Previews were
exl ended to a full week of
educational activities. On
Monday of each week the us
ual convocation address was
given by the featured speaker.
"These more or less set the
tone for the serious discus
sions which followed. On each
of the days remaining in the
three, weekly sessions were
held with specific discussions!
in order to examine as com
pletely as possible the pre
sentations which in some in
stances were concerned with
issues and problems of the
day."
The first World Affairs Pre
view dealt with Japan today
and its present education sys
tem. "In a sense the Shiman
ouchi analysis represents the
view of a person looking
through the eye of an Ameri
can and the eye of a Japa
nese," Sorenson said.
The second in the series of
World Affairs Previews fea
tured Dr. George Bereday of' her determined effort to be-
Donu Contract Cut Sept. 1
Columbia University, profes
sor of comparative education.
"Dr. Bereday made a signi
ficant contribution to the over
all educational program of the
summer session in that be
was able to bring a first hand
report of present day educa
tional programs in the Soviet
Union," said Dean Walter K.
Beggs, professor of history.
Concluding the series was
Baron Ftiedrich on Lupin of
Germany.
Calvin F. Hager, coordinat
or of the three week World
Affairs Preview said "The
miraculous recovery which
West Germany has made and
come a cooperative member
of the European and World
community was most hearten
tag."

I WOULD NOT SELL HIM . . .
Severe I days ogo. one of my cus
tomers stopped in to buy a da
y morvd. He knew what he wanted
nd He knew he could trust me
to give him just that. So He just
toe, a quick look ct the stone I
showed him and said he would
take A.
But I don't sell diamonds that
woy. I Uke to hove each customer
compare the stone they buy ogoinst a master set in our diamond
lob. A set mode up (or me by one of the largest d'emond Houses
in the world. In fact I insist on it.
By using these dSomorvSs os a gude, my customers con readily
check the Quality of the gem they buy end see where they're
getting their money's worth.
This particular customer, however, didn't think o comporisow
wos necessary, but in my business I know how easy t s lor O
person to moire a mistake when buying a diamond. You con put
clmost ony stone on a piece of block velvet ond moke it look
tike o milHon dollars. Only by comparing it with a full fang
of eroded gem con you tell exactly what you're getting ond
whether or not you're paying a fair price.
That's where lots of folks get fooled. And that's why a good
many women hove been disappointed when they held their
diamond ring alongside a friend's.
Maybe you think I'm stupid or stubborn to moke such on issue
Of every sole. And maybe I am. But I promised myseSf that
no one would ever buy a dtamond from me without first know
trig that even penny he poid was well-spent. This is my policy.
