Each summer this illusion of camp counseling intrigues college girls to pack their summer togs and sports equipment and head for the nearest girls' camp. "No office job or summer school for us," they boast. "Just a summer in the wide open spaces." After one week of eating with, sleeping near and listen ing to mothers' "little dears", however, counselors took back and doubt their sanity on tje day they signed their camp contracts. The contracts never mentioned such things as 1 could even get in! The campers were usually snick ering so loud that I had to join in their laughter and for get about scolding them." "The most terrifying exper ience 1 had at camp," another counselor said, "occurred on our night off. Four counselors had taken a canoe and had gone a mile down the river to the nearest town. About 10 p.m. we noticed that a sum mer storm was brewing, so we hurriedly started the trip back to camp. About a fourth of the way back, a sudden cloudburst and high wind swept in from the north nearly upsetting our canoe. It took everything we had to paddle over to the shore.
