Dairy Team Places Contest Honors The University livestock judging teams placed fifth in the wool con test and 15th in the livestock con test at the American Royal Live Stock Show in Kansas City, Mo. last weekend. Thev competed with nine teams in wool judging and 21 in livestock judging. Alan McClure placed third and Darrell Eberspacher placed fifth in sheeo iudeing. Eberspacher placed third in judging commercial classes of wool and Dennis Sedlacek placed fifth in commercial classes. In the fat lamb show Nebraska placed third in crossbreds and grade lambs, forth in Southdowns and fourth in Hampshires. Home Ec Profs To Give Report Two home economics faculty members will report on housing re search at the North Central States Regional Technical Housing Re search committee meeting in Chi cago, 111., this week. Dr. Florence McKinney, chair man of the Home Economics de partment, and Dr. Jean Davis, as sociate professor of home econom ics, will tell of research progress at the University. They will give data on Nebraska research on houses designed in a square shape, and on a new proj ect concerning space and equip ment needed for leisuretime activ ities of teen-age children in farm families. Brig. Gen. Allen Irwin, National Commander of Pershing Rifles, is the first student to receive the key. The staff, students of the Uni versity, who attended the Soci eties' annual banquet and military ball included: Gen. Irwin, Col. Donald Heuermann, Maj. Pat Kuncl, Maj. Bob Moran and Lt. Col. U Student Senate Blasts Required ROTC ROTC under stipulation coo tained in the rules and bylaws of the University Board of Regents. " The University of Wisconsin stu dent senate has voted to seek fac ulty and state legislative action tol eliminate compulsory mill tary training at the school. The student senate, which rep resents all university students at the school in Madison, voted 27-3 to do away with the requirement that all Wisconsin male students must take two years of ROTC studies as part of their curriculum. Don Hoffmn, senate president, said the senate took the action be cause "ROTC is contrary to the established principles of demo cratic education at the university." The senate president said that students should be free to choose their courses. The senate resolution said that compulsory ROTC was a wartime Colbert J. P. Colbert, dean of student affairs, will lead a panel discus sion on employment interviews at the Rocky Mountain College Place ment Association meeting in Rap id City, S.D., Friday afternoon. The association is composed of college and university staff mem bers concerned with student placement in eight states.
