Canady Wins Union Photo Competition Grand Prize winner of the 1957 Union photography contest is Ralph Canady, senior in Teachers College, who copped first prize with his picture, "Golden Bells." The winners were announced Thursday afternoon by Union Acti vities director Bob Handy. In the portrait division, first place went to Harold Puppe, sophomore in Arts and Sciences, with "Cheryl;" second place, Ter ry Young, graduate student, with "Interest;" and third place to Ar lene Hrbek, senior in Arts and Sciences with "Dear God." Character sketch division win-' ners were Robert Breese, sopho more in Engineering, first place, with "The Hat;" Dale Lewis, sen ior in Business Administration, second, with "Drouth;" and Ralph Canady, with "The Piper." "The Windmill" by Ralph Cana dy won first in the human interest division. "Easy Life" by Richard Morris, sophomore in Engineering, won second; and "The Rapids" by Ralph Canady received third prize. In the news and sports division, Dale Lewis received all three places with his paintings "Gimme" "Strain" and "Are You Half safe?", respectively. The grand prize was ten dollars and a trophy and the first place in each division was five dollars.
