Paintings, Drawings On Exhibit Monday
The Nebraska Art Association
Vill hold its 67th annual exhibit on
the second and third floors of Mor
rill Hall beginning Monday.
This exhibit consists of paintings,
sculpters, and drawings by living
artists here and abroad. The ex
hibit is widely known' and is out
standing In 'its field. .

and discussion students will par
ticipate in the University Debate
and Discussion Conference today
and Saturday. Over 240 students
ftom nearby states will attend the
conference. '

Interested
Any students who wish to hear
events at the Nebraska Debate and
Discussion Conference Friday and
Saturday may sit in on any of the
sessions, according to Coach Don
Olson.'
Room assignments for the vari
ous rounds will be posted in the
Temple building, Olson said.
Debate rounds begin at 1:30 p.m.
Friday. The first round will be
held in sorority and fraternity
houses, since there are not enough
free rooms on campus at that
hours," according, to Olson.
The second round begins at 3
p.m., the third at 4:30 p.m. Twp
additional rounds are scheduled for
Saturday at 8 and 9:30 p.m.
The question for debate is "Re
solved that the United States
should discontinue direct economic
aid to foreign nations,"
Three rounds of discussion are
scheduled for Friday at 9, (10 and
11 a.m. The discussion topic is
"What should be the U. S. foreign
policy in the Middle East."
Saturday at 11 a.m. superior par
ticipants in discussion will meetn
parlimentary session to form a
resolution on this question.
Extemporaneous speakers will
compete at 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Friday. In this event, each speaker
draws a topic of current interest
and has one hour to prepare a
five minute speech using no notes.
At 8 p.m. Friday original oratory
will be held. The Conference will
terminate Friday at 12:30 p.m.
with the announcement of winners
and the awarding of a sweepstakes
trophy to the school with best
tournament record, Olson stated.
The University has been declared
ineligible for this trophy.
The topic for debate is, "Re
solved that the United States
should discontinue direct economic
aid to foreign nations."
