This problem was described Monday to the Univer sity's 1956 graduating class of 924 members as "the ' most complex and the most insistent" facing them as they enter "a high-spirited world, destined to be even more spirited in the future." Dr Harold Stoke, Dean of N the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at New York University, delivered the address, "The Man agement of Power," at the Uni versity's 85th Commencement ex ercises. He was confident that "our gener ation is destined not only to ex pand its powers but to do so at an accelerating rate. This is not an unwelcome prospect; it is merely a sobering one. "The welcome fact Is" that every new power we acquire can be use ful; the sobering question is wheth er we make it so. "The knowledge of disease that gives us vaccines Is useful in bac teriological warfare; nuclear re actions can make life pleasant or destroy It la one mighty explosion."
