Announced
Westcott and Bowen Construc
tion Company of Lincoln is the ap
parent low bidder for the general
construction work on the new Ad
ministration building, according to
bids opened Tuesday afternoon.
The company's low bid was
$543,739.
Apparent low bidder for mechan
ical -work was Ray Martin Com
pany, Lincoln with a bid -of $149,
000. OTKeefe Elevator Company,
Omaha, was the apparent low bid
der on the elevator contract with a
bid of $22,990.
The opening of bids on the elec
trical contract for the Administr
iion building has been postponed
until next Tuesday, as have all bids
for the proposed $220,000 library
addition to the Law College build
ing, Charles Fowler, director of
division of buildings and grounds,
said.

engagements Monday night. Al
though somewhat of an improve
ment over last week's score, the
cigar and candy stores must still
be feeling a slack-off in business.
German Teachers
To Convene Here
Teachers of German in the
Mountain-Plains area will meet at
the University Friday, and Satur
day, according to Dr. William
Pfeiler, chairman of the -department
of Germanic languages.
The meeting will open Friday at
4 p.m. with a tour of the Ernst
Barlach exhibition at the Uni
versity Art Galleries. Manfred
Keiler, associate professor of art,
will act as guide.
At 8 p.m. Friday, the teachers
will attend an illustrated lecture
on Barlach, famed German artist,
by Dr. Naomi Jackson of Mc
Master University, Hamilton, -Ont.,
at Love Library Auditorium. The
lecture is sponsored jointly by the
German Languages -department.

University Art Galleries.
At the Student Union Saturday
at 9 a.m.. Miss Margaret Dolezal
of the University will speak -on
"Teaching German to Children."
A panel discussion on "'Why Ger
man?" will be held at 10:15 a.m.
Dr. Paul Schach, professor of
Germanic languages, will speak
at the noon luncheon on "A Sum
mer in Thult, Land of Ice and
Fire."
Red Cross To Hold
Fresh Mass Meet
Red Cross will hold a mass
meeting Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
in Union Boom 315, Joanne Junge,
publicity chairman, announced.
The meeting is for all freshman
who signed up at Activities Mart,
and any upperclass or freshman
students who wish to begin work
ing in Red Cross, Miss Junge said.
Persons working in Veterans Hos
pital committees aren't required to
attend, because of its mass meet
ing held Tuesday nignt, she said.
Late Date Night
To Benefit Tour .
Mortar Board is sponsoring the
annual Late Date Wight. This Fri
day any coed may stay out one
hour past the customary 12:30
curfew, but it will cost her one
cent for every extra minute she
is out.
