This victory .coupled with a Denver loss, put the Chiefs only two games out of first place. It was a definite psychological stimulant to the faltering Lin coln nine, which was suffering from inferiority feelings due to 11 losses from the three tail-end teams in the league. .', UNTIL THIS win, the only consolation for the bewildered Chief audience was that at this time last year, the Capital City club was in eighth place instead of second. Now, with their con fidence reaffirmed, the Chiefs are in much better position to barge back into first place, where they once resided, much to the delight and amazement of local . viewers. The standings find Denver leading the league with 31 wins and 21 losses, Lincoln second, Des Moines third, Omaha fourth, Sioux City fifth. Pueblo sixth, Colorado Springs seventh and Wichita eighth.
