The Scarlet and Cream gridders
will not be presenting a sneak
previe."v when they play Texas
Christan Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
in Memorial stadium.
For Bill Glassford's crew will
be up against a team which al
ready has one game under its
belt
The Horned Frogs dropped
their seasonal opener to the Kan
sas Jayhawks last Saturday, 27
13. But that score, lopsided
though it may seem, does not rep
resent the true power of TCU, ac
cording to national football au
thorities. Gil Bartosh, Ceach Dutch
Meyer's flashy quarterback,
saw little action because of a
leg: injury. And the pre-season
season football writeups point
ed out that Texas Christian's
offense would depend on Bar
tosh. Furthermore, the news from
down Texas way Indicates he
will be ready to go full force j
arainst Nebraska.

The sun shone down on the
intramural grid teams as they
played the second day of the sea
son. With the sun came both Joy
and sadness as the winners went
back to their houses full of spirit,
and the losers planning for the
next tilt and their first victory.
In the first game of the evening
the Kappa Sigmas played the
Beta Sigma Phis. The final score
was Kappa Sigs 12 and the Beta
Sigs 0.
Thfhwjv.appa Sigs scored by
precision pining from quarter
back Ed Berg. Berg tossed to
lineman Buck Everett for one
touchdown, and the other six
points came on a pass from
Berg to Guy Curtis.
The tight defensive line play of
the Kappa Sigs. accounted for the
win.
The second game Wednesday
was the tilt between the Sigma
Alpha Epsilon B squad and the
Sigma Nu B team.
The final score in this game was
6-0 in favor of the S.A.E. house.
The winning touchdown was
made late In the last quarter of
the game, when Neil Weddel ran
over into the end zone from the
two yard line.

Brightest news in the Husker
camp Thursday was that Cliff
Hopp, linebacker, will be ready
for duty against Texas Christian.
He has been sidelined with an
arm injury.
uiassrora named three men
who will definitely miss the Sat
urday fray because of injuries.
They are Dick Westin, halfback;
Dick Watson, center; and Harvey
Goth, tackle.
AII-American Bob Reynolds
will suit up for the game, but
Glassford said the only possible
way he would see action was
booting conversions. Glassford
continued .however, that even
this possibility is very remote
since Bobby Decker is slated to
kick the extra points.
Reynolds who received a sepa
rated shoulder at Curtis, has been
running with the number one
team at lefthalf. But he was not
suited up.
Glassford further said Reynolds
probably will not play in either
the Kansas State or Penn State
games on Oct. 6 and 13. Follow
ing the Penn State contest, x-rays
will again be taken of Reynolds'

Jeffrey who did most of the
passing for his team.
Following the S.A.E. and S.N.
tilt the boys from the A.T.O.
B team played the boys from
the Fiji B squad.
The final score was A.T.O.
28, the Phi Gams, 6.
The A.T.O. men had a pow
erful offensive team with such
players as Lyle Blue, Mat Bai
ley, Doug Dale and Gene Cot
tar. Blue accounted for two A.T.O.
touchdowns while Mat Bailey
passed to Dale for one T.D. and
another pass to Gene Cotter for
the other final score.
According to the A.T.O. house,
the outstanding player of the
game was Mat Bailey, their
passer.
Sigma Chi took on the boys
from the Delta Tau Delta house.

Aside from Westin, Watson,

the "general physical condition of
the squad is good."
The Husker mentor made no
comment on the final score, but
he did say that "from the
standpoint of overall organiza
tion, we are not as well pre

year as we were for Indiana
last season."
Glassford attributed this to the
lack of veteran material, minor
injuries and the weather condi

The final score in this game was
I to 0.
This, in the reporter's opinion,
was the most spectacular game
of the day. Although the game
was tight until the last few sec
onds the Sig Chis won it when
Bill Hofgard passed over the line
of scrimmage to Jack March.
Here is the way the play was
set up. When time ran out In
the fourth quarter the official
of the game let each team see
how far they could go from the
line of scrimmage. The team to
go the farthest distance would
win the game.
The Delts first took the ball but
Marvin Bridges intercepted a.Helt
pass giving the Sigs possession of
the ball. After two futile attempts
Sigma Chi finally completed a
pass over the line of scrimmage

Frosh Prepare For .
Missouri Encounter
By TOM KISSLER
Sports Staff Reporter
Coach Ike Ranscom is grooming
his N. Uw B-team for its Oct 6
encounter with the Missouri B in
Columbia.
Only three men grace the Corn-
husker roster who aren't frosh
but several more may be added
as the season progresses. George
Cohde. Russ Morgan and Dick
Watson are the only upperclass
men on. the squad.
The Tirers will have consider
ably more experience under
their belt when they play host
to Hanscom's proteges. They
already boast a Z win no loss
record and have another contest
this week. One of their decisions
was over Kansas U. second team,
20-1$.
A scrimmage Coach Hanscom
has scheduled for this Friday will
probably be a big factor in
deciding his 36-man traveling
squad.
An evergrowing injury list now
includes Dick Watson, Jim Evans,
Kenny Osborn, Mike Morton. I
George Mink, Jim Yiesley, and
Dierk Ralston. Ralston' who got
