Arden Means, winning their

Playing only one game against
another freshman squad, the Ne

ter, fouled out of the game with 8
minutes remaining.
Henningsen, captain for the
Maryville squad, was the whole
show for the teachers both on of
fense and defense.
The Teachers led only once in
the game. Lloyd Younger, G-0
guard, dumped a basket in the
first two minutes of the game
to put the visitors ahead, three
to one. Both teams had pre
viously made a free toss.
Altho in the lead most of the
first half, the Huskers could not
stretch their margin to more
than eight points. Whitehead and
Bob Gates kept the Scarlet and
Cream ouj in the front with al
ternating shots. Gates scored all
of his eight points in the first half.
With the gigiantic combination
of Whitehead and Bob Pierce,
G-6'l', working the boards from
the center and forward slots, the
Huskers wasted no time in in
creasing their lead in the second
half.
Jim Buchanan, sophomore from
Fort Wayne, Ind., dumped in a
shot under the basket to give
the Cornhuskers a 48-30 lead
with ten minutes remaining in
the game. The Teachers never
overcame that 18 point margin.
Coach Harry Good substituted
freely in the last eight minutes
and used all his sophomores. One
of them, Norm Wilnes, 6-2 for
ward from Sidney, had trouble
getting started but performed
well after a change of jerseys.
All but four of the 16 Husker
players that saw action figured
in the scoring and all but three
fouled.
A surprise starter in the game
was Joe Brown, three year let
tcrman from Nashville, Tenn. He
teamed with Bob Cerv to make a
speedy backcouit combination.
Cerv reinjured his knee in the
early pait of the game and was
used sparingly after that. His re
placement, Gates joined with
Whitehead to dominate most of
the first half scoring.
The large margin toward the
last of the game gave Good a
chance to give his sophomores
much-needed experience in ac
tual game conditions.
