As a conceit tenor, Hayes has performed to audiences through out the world. Following his per formance at Koyal Albert hall and the National Art gallery in Lon don in 1943 with Dame Myra Hess, pianist, he received the plaudits of John S. Winant, then U. S. ambassador to England and Jacob L. Devers, commanding general, U. S. Army, European Theatre of Operations. Brandeis and Sons, Omaha, spoke to about a hundred members of English 11 and 12 classes meeting at ten o'clock, last week. Mr. Ashby was president last year of the National Retail Credit association with headquarters in St. Louis. He has also served on the educational committee of N.R.C.A. He is a director of the National Retail Dry Goods asso ciation and chairman of its com mittee on credit office modern ization and layout. Mr. Ashby is well-known as a speaker and author of articles and booklets on credit and sales promotion. Max Meyer, president of the Nebraska Credit company of Lin coln, publisher of the Blue Book, introduced the speaker. Mr. Meyer received the Distinguished Service award of the Alumni association at the University of Nebraska commencement last June. F. R.
