Frosh Point
For Upset in
Today's Dual
Can the frosh upset the varsity?
That's the question that has been
running around the campus in the
mind of all track-minded stu
dents for the past week.
That question will prevail until
Friday afternoon at 4:30 when the
respective two-mile teams meet
in Memorial Stadium.
Carrying the burden of the
freshmen's hopes is Wayne Judds.
Judds has consistently 'pushed'
Gene Yelkin, who is one of the
varsity's best, in practice and
Weir expects a scorching duel
right down to the wire. Besides
Judds, the frosh have high hopes
in Louis Million of Sidney and
Hobe Jones of Lincoln.
Jones, was the gold medal
winner of the half mile last
spring at the Nebraska State
High School track and field meet
held at Lincoln. Jones, who was
hobbled with a leg injury, ran
i.way from the pack as he took
hn eay Class A victory.
Weather Helpful
The frosh were sble to turn in
fnme good practices this week as
the weather remained ideal for the
Riueling two-mile jaunt. Since
the 'Grcenies have been able to
practice, it has increased their
chances for an upset victory. The
weatherman has predicted clear
skies for Friday and Weir ex
pects some excellent times from
his runners.
Coach Weir reported that the
frosh will have a three-fold rea
son for putting forth all their ef
forts Friday. Weir gave these
three reasons for expecting the
frosh to -eive their all:
1. They will te running against
the varsity.
2. Their times will be turned in
