ISA to Open
Campaign for
New Members
ISA w.ll open its 1949-50 mem
bership campaign Monday with
the goal set at 1.000 members,
according to Don Flesher, mem
bership chairman.
An organization encouraging
social activities for unaffiliated
students, the Independent Stu
dents association is the only or
ganization of its kind on the cam
pus. It a '.so encourages independ
ent students to participate in
extra-curricular activities.
The campaign, which will end
Oct. 15. will be climaxed by a
dance free to all holders of mem
bership cards.
In addition tn the campaign
dance, a party or dance is so lied-

Ralph Koch and Art Gilbert
were elected to the offices of
Treasurer and Warden-Historian
of Phalanx at their meeting Wed
nesday night. Commander R. Bass
announced that the Phalanx's an
nual rush smoker will be held on
next Wednesday evening, with all
ROTC and NROTC students invited.
Will Hack at Turnpike
The Turnpike will present Will
Back's orchestra on the nights ot
Sept. 30, Oct. 1, and Oct. 2.
He has just completed an ex
tended engagement at Melody
Mill Ballroom in Chicago. Af
ter his stand here at the Turn
pike he will play at the Aragoti
and Trianon Ballroom in Chicago,
the Schroeder Hotel in Milwaukee
and others.
