neering junior, is the new chair
man of the Engineering Exec,
board. He succeeds Graham
Jones of the civil engineering de
partment. Other officers include Jim Stod
dart (chem. e.), vice-chairman,
and John Sahs (ag. e.), secretary
treasurer. Prof. E. J. Malmo is
the new faculty advisor, succeed
ing Prof. J. S. Blackman.

Professor Leslie Ilcwes, chair
man of the geography depart
ment, has been named president
of the midwestcrn division of
American Geographers.
Professor Hewes was elected
at a recent meeting held in
Kearney which was attended by
50 geographers from this area.
The group also made a tour of
southeastern and south central
Nebraska under the direction of
the University of Nebraska geo
graphy department.

them on the University faculty
were named members of the Uni
versity chapter of Sigma Xi,
scientific research society of
America, at an initiation banquet
hold Wednesday night.
The new members are: Harry

jr., Herbert W. Johnson, Marvin

ED M'CULLOUGII and Donna Jean Saum close the doors to the
University Theatre. The Theatre was condemned by the state fire
marshal at the beginning of the semester as being unsafe for
public gatherings. As a result of the closing, the Theatre had to
make many changes in production plans.

The new officers for the Union
board for next year were named
