Huskers Into Second Spot
In Big 7 All-Sports Race
Nebraska's athletes coming up
strong in the latter part of the
year are now in second place
in the Big Seven all-sports race.
Oklahoma leads with ll'i points
to 17 1 2 for Nebraska.
Kansas is third along with Mis
souri with 26 points followed by
Iowa State Vilh 26's. Colorado
with 27 and Kansas State with
33' z.
The Huskers have won the most
individual championships, having
carried wrestling, indoor track
and basketball. Oklahoma's team
balance has meant the difference
so far, as the Sooners have placed
no lower than third in any sport,
while winning football and ticing
for basketball.
THE SOONERS took second
place honors in crosscountry,
wrestling and swimming and
ended up third in indoor track.
Nebraska has won titles in bas
ketball, wrestling and indoor
track, but dropped to fifth in
football, sixth in crosscountry and
third in swimming.
Emphasizing every sport on the
calendar, Oklahoma has won the
conference all-sports trophy 13
times to Nebraska's three, Iowa
State's three, Kansas one and Mis
souri's one.
Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa State
and Colorado participated in every
sport officially recognized by the
conference. Kansas has no
wrestling team, Kansas State has
no swimming team and Missouri
has neither a wrestling nor a
swimming team.
With golf, tennis, baseball, and
outdoor track still on the docket,
the all-over rankings are as fol

Glenwood Einspahr bucketed 34
points in pacing his Hildreth
mates to a 64-36 win over Gar
land in the Class D opener. Six
teen of Einspahr's tallies came in
the final quarter.
I th, Class D pre-tourney
fav . had little trouble with

lead at intermission. Del Bunger
of Hildreth trailed Einspahr with
16 points, and Paul Peterson
counted 17 for Garland.
In the second afternoon game
MsLean dropped Farwell 40-32.
The winners held a 21-15 lead at
the half.
Brady had an easy time of it in
romping past Avoca 38-18. The
Brady lads led 14-2 at the quarter,
and 24-6 at the rest -period. Dean
Brittcnham. scored 11 points for
Brady.
