SigEps Intramural
Track Champions
BY DOUG DALE
Sigma Thi Epsilon rode to the
Intramural Indoor track and field
championship on the outstanding
performances of Lee Alexander
and Wendy Cole Thursday after
noon at Memorial Stadium.
Alexander became the meet's
only double winner as he ripped
off a third straight :06.5 clocking
in the 60-yard dash finals. It was
his second record breaking per
formance. Wednesday he captured the
one-lap run with a remaikable
:28.4. He established the 60-yard
standard at :06.5 in Tuesday's pre
lims and repeated in the semis
and finals.
His victory in the sprint, cou
pled with Cole's third place in the
50-yard finals, the day's opening
event, overhauled Alpha Tau
Omega, leader the first two days,
and when the Sig Ep quartet of
Cole, Alexander, Joe Tobiska and
Ken Brooker flew home in record
busting time of 1:56.8 in the four
lap relay it was all over.
ALEXANDER grabbed individ
ual laurels with his two firsts and
anchor leg on the relay for 17V4
points, edging Bill Moss, Delta
Upsilon, who scored 16 on a tie
for first in the pole vault and sec
onds in 60-yard dash and one-lap
run.
The Sig Eps turned in four rec
ord-breaking performances. They
were: Alexander's 60 and one-lap
wins, the relay and Wendy Cole's
1:05.3 in the two-lap event.
Alpha Tau Omega was all
through after the first two days
in which they held a commanding
lead, save a fourth place in the
relay. They failed to score in the
sprint and trailed the Sig Eps by
eight and one-half points for run
nerup honors.
Phi Gamma Delia made a strong
finish to place third with 30
points, edging Thi Delta Theta,
who scored 2?
OXLY TWO RECORDS held up

were the pole vault and shot put

the shot with a 52 foot 73i inch
effort. Dick Lett 'and Bill Moss
tied at 11 foot Ji inch in the pole
vault.
The other records were placed
on Ihe books by Don Rice, Al
Hruby and Bill Moss. Rice cracked
the oldest standard with a foot
2 inch winning leap in fie high
