ner "out." They represent the 22 orphan boys that were puests of the social fraternity last Wednes
day night. Ranging in ae from four to 12, the boys gave the college men of Sigma Nu a memorable
evening in the Christmas season. The Sigma Nu party was only one of many given this past week by
University students for their friends in local institutions. It was part of the special Red Cross Col
lege Unit Christmas prejects plan, chairmaned by Jean Fenster and Eugene Berg. Twenty-five other
groups participating in the plan.

Orphan Children
"They were quite a bunch of
boys."
That was a typical Sigma Nu's
comment as the 22 orphan guests
from Tabitha Home left the fra
ternity last Wednesday night.
Rex Pettijohn, University jun
ior and member of the social
fraternity, explained, "we had
quite a time at dinner every
five minutes one of the little
boys got up and ran around."
Under the world-wide banner of ized Red Cross college unit, vis-

groups participated in the Christ
mas institutional projects duinig
the past week.
The campus houses and clubs
visited a dozen of the local in
stitutions for the orphaned, sick,
aged and veteran, in addition to
the ill- at the student health in
firmary. Express Christmas Spirit
Students, expressing the true
essence of the Christmas season,
visited the homes to sing, enter
tain and to distribute gifts. The
several hundred university stu
dents played "Santa Claus'" to the
hundreds of inmates and patients
of the numerous local institu
tions. The campus groups, under the
supervision of the newly organ-
ited Tabitha home, The Cedars,
Veteran's hospital, St. Thomas or
phange, State penitentiary, Chil
dren's Orthopedic hospital, State
Home for Children, Bryan Me
morial hospital, St. Elizabeth's
hospital, Lincoln General hospital
and Student Health.

cation. Participation in the institutional
plan included nine fraternities,
seven sororities, Terrace Hall,
Tassels, Women's Residence halls,
Inlervarsity Christian Fellowship,
Gamma Delta, Loomis Hall, Sigma
Alpha Iota, Mu Phi Epsilon. Delta
Omicron and University Singers.

HAPPY KIDS GATHER around the Sigma Nu Christmas tree to
receive their individual gifts from the hoys. They spent an excited
hour opening the gaily wrapped presents, according to fraternity
members. Other groups distributed gifts at the local institutions,
including Farm House, Alpha Gamma Rho. Tassels. Intcrvars'ty
Christian Fellowship, Sigma Phi Fpstlon. Delta Delta Delta. Kappa
Sisma, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Alpha Sigma Phi, Delian I11W1 and
A del phi.
