Two-Milers
While thoughts around the
campus have been focused on
Potsy's eleven, the fall track
squad has been working dilli
gently to make a good showing
in the autumn two-mile meets.
Coach Ed Weir is having quite
a problem as two of his veteran
two-milers are missing and a
third is not up to his previous
form.
The squad lost its opener at
Colorado last weekend, and were
hampered by the wintery weather
of the previous week. This week
they have been taking advantage
of the break in the weather and
have been working outdoors
every afternoon.
Monday and Tuesday workouts
were mainly concerned with
over-distance work while Wed
nesday and Thursday were de
vnlrH to nace work. The track-
sters ran under-disl-.nce, concen
trating on holding a ten-minute
pace. Today a time trial over me
full route will be held.
Next meet on tap for the
Huskers is a dual with the per
ennially strong Kansas two-milers
at Lawrence, Oct. 23, before
the gride game. Coach Weir is
hopeful of an improved showing
over the Colorado dual, as this
and next week's work should give
his green squad a chance to iron
out the kinks.
Poach Woir is still eallint? for
more freshman candidates, as the
first postal meet is less man a
month away. A few freshmen
have come out and shown prom
ise, but more or urged to try. He
also hopes that candidates, fresh
men and varsity, who plan to
come out later in the year will
start now as the workouts will
aid them later on.
