DU, ZBT, Beta Sig Win
Phi Delts Beat Pioneer;
Beta Sigma Psi took an inter
cepted pass 35 yards in the last
five minutes of play to down a
stubborn Delta Tau Delta team
6-0 Tuesday at the Ag College.
Delta Upsilon and Zeta Beta Tau
won first round matches as they
downed Delta Sigma Pi and Sig
ma Phi Epsilon by forfeit and a
1-0 count, respectively.
Wolfert proved to be the gun
in the Beta Sig offense, while En
gler, Weimer, and Tremain stood
out defensively for the Delts.
It was a pass from Jim Sharp
to Van Norman that Wolfert ran
in and intercepted the pass, run
ning down the sidelines behind
precision blocking to score the
lone tally.
Recover Fumble.
The Delts, led by Sharp and
Van Norman, came back with
long passes, but failed to connect.
In the other Ag game, Potter
and Gerlach passed Phi Delta
Thcta to a 6-0 victory over a
touch Pioneer Co-op team.
After recovering a fumble near
the Pioneers' goal line Totter
passed to Donegan for the Phi
Delt score.
The Phi Delt offense boomed
with Potter's and Gcilach's
passes. Mizner's kicking was also
tin important factor.
Zeta Beta Tau gained their 1-0
vietoiy over Sigma Phi Epsilon
by out-yarding the Sig Ep's five
yards in overtime play.
According to intramural regula
tions if a game ends in a tic the
terms are given four downs with
the winner of the game being the
team making the most yardage,

Tennis Singles
Start Today
The annual fall tennis singles
tournament will get under .way
Sunday, Oct. 3, at 9 a. m. with
an entry field of over 100 men
expected.
The action is slated on three
different courts in Lincoln. En
tries should be brought to the
P. E. building before 0:00, Thurs
day, Sept. 30. An organization
must have at least three players
competing to be eligible for team
honors.
All pairings will be announced
Friday, Oct. 1, and the players
will swing into action on the
third at the Muny courts at 27th
& J streets, at the City courts at
27th & A streets, and at the
Lincoln Tennis Club courts at
35th and South streets.
All men in the University, ex
cept tennis letter men, are eligible
to enter. Last year's champion,
Dick Means, will not compete this
year, thus forecasting a wide
ooen r.ice with several outstand
ing nctmen for the finals.
IM Director Means announced
that UN students would soon en
joy tennis play on six new Grass
tcx courts which are now under
construction . between the Coli
seum and the new P. E. Building.
These courts will have lights and
will afford continuous play daily
until 9:30 p. m.
The courts are the result of
three years' effort to secure a
place for general student recrea
tion and an opportunity to teach
tennis to students who have never
had the privilege.

Test Starts
The annual basketball free
throw tourney began Tuesday at
3:00 and will continue through
Friday, Oct. 1 at the new P. E.
building.
No official entry is necessary.
Men desiring to compete should
report for action with basketbal
or tennis shoes. The best 40
scorers will be selected for match
championship play which starts
Tuesday, Oct. 5, and ends Wed
nesday, Oct. 6.
Forty free throws will com
prise the first round's play, and
at least five men must compete
from an organization to place it
in line for team honors. Basket
ball letter men are barred from
the tournament.
Last year over 500 men par
ticipated in this annual fall ac
tivity with Beta Theta Pi emerg
ing the team champion.
